Mortgage Loan Processor/Closer

First Bank and Trust is hiring a Mortgage Loan Processor/Closer to work in Christiansburg, VA. The Mortgage Loan Processor/Closer will work closely with the Mortgage Bankers to ensure all the necessary information is obtained and documented. This individual will provide administrative support as well as provide superior customer service to current and prospective customers of First Bank and Trust Company. This individual will greet and assist customers at the branch and process the applicable loan documents as instructed by the Mortgage Banker.

The Mortgage Loan Processor/Closer will be responsible for obtaining the required information from attorneys, settlement agents, and Mortgage Bankers. The Mortgage Loan Processor/Closer must ensure compliance with FANNIE/FHLMC and government loan guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary contact for attorneys and settlement agents for processing mortgage loans.
  • Prepares correspondence, organizes and maintains files, and provides administrative support to include filing and/or scanning of mortgage loan documents.
  • Assist mortgage bankers in preparing loan packages and loan commitment letters.
  • Obtain credit reports and order appraisals.
  • Provides ongoing communication with clients to ensure the loan process runs smoothly.
  • Logs and reviews declined and withdrawn loan files.
  • Prepares early and final disclosures.
  • Process paid off loans.
  • Responsible for mortgage loan exception tracking and clearing exceptions with the mortgage banker.
  • Review and verify for accuracy insurance policies, loan payments and other loan documents.
  • Send wire transfer requests to Wire Department
  • Quote and process mortgage loan payoffs
  • Prepare Subordination and Modification Agreements
  • Upload loans onto bank system
  • Cross sells bank products and services

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Strong financial/accounting background skills.
