Location: Grande Prairie, AB
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $22.44/hour CAD
Work Environment: On-Site (Healthcare Facilities)
Schedule: On-Demand Availability Required (Days, Nights, Weekends, Holidays)
Travel Requirement: Must be willing to travel up to 500 km to surrounding rural healthcare facilities using personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)

Overview

Paladin Security is seeking dependable, professional, and compassionate individuals to join our Healthcare Security team as Patient Watch Officers in the Grande Prairie, AB region.

As a Patient Watch Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring patients who may present a risk to themselves or others while maintaining a safe, secure, and respectful healthcare environment. This role requires strong observation skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to remain calm and professional during challenging situations.

Successful candidates must be available to work short-notice shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and overnight assignments.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor patient safety and immediately report changes in behavior or condition to hospital staff and security personnel.
  • Maintain constant observation of assigned patients.
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques to help ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.
  • Document incidents, observations, and patient interactions accurately and thoroughly.
  • Operate two-way radios and computer systems for communication and reporting purposes.
  • Maintain professionalism and composure during emergency situations.
  • Develop strong working relationships with hospital personnel and site contacts.
  • Protect confidential patient and organizational information.
  • Monitor and screen visitors and clients in accordance with site procedures.
  • Remain alert and attentive throughout assigned shifts.
  • Follow all healthcare facility safety protocols and security procedures.

Requirements

Must Have
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Clean Criminal Record.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Reliable personal vehicle and willingness to travel to healthcare facilities throughout the region.
  • Open availability for day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods when required.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Nice to Have
  • Basic Security Training (BST).
  • First Aid Certification.

Note: A security license is not required for this position. Paladin Security will provide Healthcare Security Training to successful applicants. First Aid training can also be provided if required.
