WATER FITNESS INSTRUCTOR POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Water Fitness Instructor Dept No: 413284 Department: Aquatics
Personnel Code: Support Staff Status: Non-Exempt Supervisor: Aquatics Director

Position Summary: Under direct supervision of the Aquatics Director, provides water aerobics instruction; monitors progress; educates patrons on fitness and safety, and maintains a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth in the JCC Aquatics Manual
  • Provide a safe environment for all participants
  • Teach scheduled classes
    • Start and finish class on time
    • Provide adequate warm-up, exercise, stretching, and cool down
    • Make use of teaching aids
  • Complete all necessary planning and paperwork inherent to position
    • Keep class attendance
  • Instruct classes in deep or shallow water
  • Instruct classes for all ages and abilities
  • Maintain good communication with members/participants
    • Communicate any changes in class schedule to members/participants
  • Always maintain a professional attitude.
  • Report problems to the Aquatics Director or Recreation & Wellness Director immediately
  • Attend all staff and evaluation meetings as scheduled
  • All other duties as assigned.

  1. Knowledge and Education - Minimum Required or Preferred: Water Fitness Certification, standard First Aid training, CPRPR
  2. Experience - Minimum Required or Preferred: Experience teaching water fitness classes
  3. Special Skills: ability to work with people of all ages and lift 50 pounds
