The System Management Firmware Product Manager owns the customer-facing management capabilities delivered through XCC and UEFI, together with the product definition and governance of system-wide firmware packages across the server portfolio. The role sets capability scope and priorities, determines base and premium functionality, and makes enhancement, deferral and retirement decisions in partnership with architecture and engineering on feasibility and implementation.

Scope includes remote monitoring and control, inventory and health, diagnostics, configuration, power and thermal management, security and access control, management APIs, and integration with the wider XClarity ecosystem. It also covers coordinated firmware discovery, update, rollback and lifecycle management across XCC, UEFI and supported devices. Own product decisions on the inclusion and timing of third-party device firmware updates within Lenovo system firmware packages. Apply quality or security requirements established by the accountable teams, and evaluate other updates based on customer value, portfolio benefit, compatibility and lifecycle risk.

The role complements server product managers by owning the horizontal firmware capability roadmap and governance across the portfolio, while individual server product managers retain accountability for the definition, launch and business performance of their server products. The Product Manager translates customer, market, platform and engineering needs into a coherent roadmap, aligns stakeholders, and drives predictable execution across new and sustaining firmware releases and server platforms. Applying server-platform management expertise, the role improves firmware quality, customer experience and business value across the general-purpose server portfolio.

Own the Product Strategy and Definition for System Management Firmware

• Define and own the product vision, roadmap, requirements, feature scope, priorities, positioning, and customer value for Lenovo XClarity Controller (XCC), UEFI, and system management firmware capabilities.
• Make and document product decisions regarding feature inclusion, prioritization, enhancement, deferral, and retirement while balancing customer needs, business objectives, technical feasibility, lifecycle impacts, and risk.
• Partner with architecture and engineering teams to ensure firmware capabilities align with platform strategy and customer requirements.

Lead Firmware Lifecycle Management and Portfolio Governance

• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of firmware management capabilities, including roadmap planning, release management, launch readiness, sustaining engineering, and retirement.
• Define release scope, readiness criteria, and coordinated execution across quality, security, documentation, manufacturing, support, sales enablement, and field organizations.
• Govern system-wide firmware packages, including firmware discovery, updates, rollback, compatibility, and lifecycle management across XCC, UEFI, and supported hardware devices.

Drive Cross-Functional Execution and Organizational Alignment

• Lead coordination across product management, architecture, firmware development, hardware engineering, validation, manufacturing, supply chain, security, support, sales, and marketing teams.
• Manage dependencies, risks, escalations, and competing priorities to ensure predictable execution and successful delivery of firmware releases.
• Establish decision-making frameworks and accountability models that clearly distinguish product ownership from technical implementation responsibilities.

Enhance Product Competitiveness and Customer Value

• Ensure firmware capabilities meet competitive expectations for manageability, security, resiliency, serviceability, performance, power efficiency, and overall customer experience.
• Monitor customer feedback, adoption metrics, field quality data, and market trends to identify opportunities for innovation, simplification, and differentiation.
• Own decisions regarding third-party device firmware inclusion and update timing within Lenovo system firmware packages, considering customer value, quality, security, compatibility, and lifecycle impacts.

Leverage Data, Analytics, and Market Insights

• Establish, maintain, and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) related to firmware adoption, update success rates, customer experience, support outcomes, release readiness, and roadmap execution.
• Maintain high-quality product documentation, requirements, decision records, risk assessments, and supporting materials to ensure traceability and operational excellence.
• Engage with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to translate market insights into measurable firmware capability improvements and business outcomes.

Serve as a Subject Matter Expert and Industry Advocate

• Act as a recognized authority on server management firmware, platform management technologies, and industry trends.
• Stay current on emerging technologies, standards, and partner roadmaps across CPU, BMC, NIC, storage, RAID, GPU, PCIe, CXL, memory, and related platform technologies.
• Share expertise, mentor stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

• 8+ years of experience in server, infrastructure, firmware, platform, software, hardware, or related product management and technical leadership roles
• Proven track record of defining, delivering, launching, or managing complex technology products, platform capabilities, firmware solutions, or infrastructure offerings throughout the product lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of server platform architecture and firmware technologies, including BIOS, UEFI, BMC, XCC, platform management firmware, and device firmware.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across engineering, architecture, validation, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, security, support, sales, marketing, and supplier organizations within a global business environment.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate risks, manage ambiguity, balance competing priorities, influence stakeholders, and drive product decisions to successful outcomes.

• Working knowledge of industry-standard platform management technologies and protocols such as Redfish, IPMI, or comparable management interfaces.
• Familiarity with platform security concepts, including trust, identity, attestation, cryptographic lifecycle management, firmware security, and secure-update practices.
• Experience using analytics, KPIs, AI-assisted tools, automation, or data-driven decision-making techniques to improve product planning, execution, and lifecycle outcomes.
• Knowledge of data center, enterprise, cloud, AI infrastructure, or high-performance computing environments and associated customer requirements.
• Expertise in emerging server technologies and ecosystem trends, including CPU, BMC, NIC, storage, RAID, GPU, PCIe, CXL, memory, and related platform technologies, with the ability to translate technical developments into product strategy and customer value.
