What does a firearms manager do?

A Firearms Manager is responsible for overseeing the sale, storage, and compliance of firearms within a retail or organizational setting. Their duties typically include managing inventory, ensuring all transactions adhere to federal, state, and local laws, training staff on proper firearm handling and safety procedures, and maintaining accurate records for audits. They also handle customer inquiries and may assist with background check processes. This role requires a strong understanding of firearms regulations and excellent organizational skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a firearms manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Firearms Manager, you need in-depth knowledge of firearms laws and safety protocols, experience in retail or inventory management, and often a background check or relevant licensure. Familiarity with point-of-sale systems, inventory tracking software, and ATF compliance tools is typically required. Exceptional customer service, attention to detail, and strong leadership skills help ensure safety and satisfaction while managing staff and customers.
