Job Summary: Approved Fire Protection is looking for a full-time experienced Service Technician for Sprinkler/ Fire Alarm Systems.

This is a great opportunity for someone who can

can handle working on all types of piping networks including sprinklers and suppression systems. Knowledgeable with various fire suppression systems such as dry, wet, pre-action & deluge systems, fire pumps, jockey pumps, standpipes, hose stations, fire hydrants and backflow preventers. Also knowledgeable in all types of alarm systems including building alarms, releasing panels & suppression systems.

Candidates should be mechanically inclined and possess the ability to diagnose and repair any reported problems.

Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform installations, repairs, testing and inspections of sprinkler, fire alarm and special hazard systems.
  • Follow Safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to lift, carry and move cylinders and other equipment that can weigh approximately 20 to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to show up to work and appointments in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to use ladders and lifts.
  • Repair Sprinkler Systems: Groove pipe, thread pipe, replace valves, heads.
  • Repair Fire Alarm Systems: Troubleshoot, testing, wiring and replacement
  • Generate correctly and legibly inspection certificates and related paperwork.
  • General Knowledge of NFPA 13, NFPA 25, NFPA 72, and NFPA 101.
  • Develop positive and ongoing relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Provide lists for fabrication and coordination between the trades.
  • Must be able to participate in emergency on-call rotation.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the fire protection industry; primarily sprinkler, fire & suppression.
  • Ability to inspect, install and service all types of sprinkler & alarm systems.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to be proactive in communicating and working with other departments.
  • Current possession of (or willingness to obtain) a NICET certification
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background and drug tests.
  • Enjoy working in a team environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • Field experience with at least 2-4 years hands on experience in Sprinkler and Alarm Inspection/Repair
  • Current possession of (or willingness to obtain) a DOT HAZMAT endorsed driverโ€™s license.
  • Current possession of (or willingness to obtain) a NICET level I or II certification
  • Current possession of (or willingness to obtain) a TWIC card
  • Valid driver's license and excellent driving record.
  • Must be willing to travel throughout Pittsburgh and surrounding areas required to project field locations.
  • Language: English
