Job description

At Johnson Controls, we help create smarter, healthier, and more sustainable buildings. Join a team that values your ideas, supports your growth, and gives you the opportunity to make a real impact on building safety and customer success.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Fire Service Sales Representative to promote and sell fire sprinkler service offerings within an assigned territory and customer base. In this role, you will build trusted relationships, uncover service opportunities, and develop solutions that support life safety, code compliance, and long-term account growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prospect for new business and qualify opportunities for fire sprinkler service, including repairs, modifications, new construction, and ongoing account work.

  • Manage the sales process from discovery and estimating through proposal preparation, negotiation, contract close, and post-sale follow-up.

  • Conduct building surveys and develop estimates for small projects and day-work assignments.

  • Maintain an active proposal backlog and pursue opportunities that support sales plan objectives.

  • Build and strengthen relationships with customers, contractors, and end users to support repeat business and account growth.

  • Partner with service, design, and support teams to address moves, adds, and changes to sprinkler systems and ensure smooth service delivery.

  • Use blueprint reading, NFPA 13 knowledge, and local code awareness to support accurate and compliant solutions.

  • Track sales activity, customer needs, and follow-up actions to keep opportunities moving forward.

How You Will Do It
  • Own outcomes with accountability by following through on commitments, supporting safe work practices, and maintaining integrity in every customer interaction.

  • Focus on what matters by listening closely to each customer's needs, identifying the right service opportunity, and removing obstacles that slow the sale or delivery.

  • Improve every day by refining estimates, strengthening follow-up, and using feedback to make the sales process simpler and more effective.

  • Win as one team by collaborating with service, design, and management colleagues and building trust with customers, contractors, and end users.

  • Communicate clearly, document thoroughly, and keep forecasting and account information current.

  • Apply technical knowledge of sprinkler systems, blueprints, NFPA 13, and local codes to develop practical, compliant recommendations.

Qualifications
  • Self-motivation and a strong desire to succeed.

  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Strong organization skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively.

  • Proficiency with personal computers, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Team-oriented mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.

  • Technical knowledge of sprinkler systems, fire sprinkler service work, blueprints, NFPA 13, and local codes.

Nice to Have
  • Four years of experience in the sprinkler industry.

  • Experience in sprinkler design, estimating, and hydraulic calculations.

  • NICET Level I certification.

Why Join Us
  • Competitive salary range of $45,000 USD to $67,000 USD, based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market data.

  • Paid vacation, holidays, and sick time, including 15 days of vacation in the first year.

  • Comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k), medical, dental, and vision care available on day one.

  • Encouraging and collaborative team environment.

  • Commitment to safety through the Zero Harm policy.

If you are ready to grow your career in fire service sales and help customers protect what matters most, we invite you to apply.
