Posting Closing DateJob SummaryUnder general supervision of the Assistant Chief of Support Services, the Logistics Coordinator oversees and coordinates the Bryan Fire Department's logistics operations, including procurement, inventory, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) maintenance, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) program oversight, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) supply management. Provides direct oversight to Logistics Technicians and ensures compliance with applicable National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, manufacturer recommendations, and City and department policies.
Essential Job Functions - Oversees, trains, and evaluates the performance of assigned Logistics Technicians, ensuring consistent performance and adherence to departmental standards and goals.
- Provides technical guidance and leadership for logistics, PPE, SCBA, and EMS supply operations.
- Develops work schedules, priorities, and assignments to meet departmental operational needs.
- Assists in the preparation of specifications, bid documents, and justifications for equipment and supply purchases; ensures procurement activities are in alignment with the City's purchasing and budget procedures.
- Maintains accurate records of expenditures, inventory, and contracts within the department's logistics management software.
- Oversees the storage, maintenance, and distribution of all departmental equipment, uniforms, and consumables.
- Ensures efficient oversight of inventory levels for EMS supplies, fire equipment, and operational materials.
- Evaluates product use trends and identifies cost-saving or standardization opportunities.
- Coordinates warranty claims, service agreements, and vendor relationships.
- Ensures accurate data entry and tracking of inventory transactions within the department's logistics management software.
- Administers the department's PPE care, cleaning, and inspection program in compliance with NFPA 1851.
- Oversees in-house PPE cleaning and inspection operations and coordinates with approved vendors for specialized decontamination or repair; ensures records are accurately documented in the department's logistics management software.
- Tracks PPE lifecycle and ensures timely replacement based on department policy and manufacturer guidance.
- Oversees the department's SCBA inspection, testing, and maintenance program in compliance with NFPA 1852 and manufacturer specifications.
- Ensures that annual flow testing and air system maintenance schedules are completed and documented.
- Maintains technician-level certification in SCBA repair and testing and provides technical oversight to supporting personnel.
- Coordinates repairs, parts inventory, and air system maintenance to ensure continuous operational readiness.
- Maintains accurate records of PPE, SCBA, and supply inventories using the department's logistics management software.
- Prepares reports and documentation for internal audits, NFPA compliance verification, and budget review.
- Assists in developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for logistics, equipment care, and maintenance.
- Provides logistical support for major incidents, special events, and emergency responses as required.
- Coordinates the delivery, retrieval, and replenishment of critical equipment and supplies during extended operations.
- Performs related responsibilities as assigned.
- Responds regularly and promptly to work.
Minimum Qualifications - High School Diploma or GED.
- Must possess at least eight (8) years of work experience in logistics, inventory control, fire equipment maintenance, warehousing, storekeeping, or a similar field.
- Experience with logistics or asset management software in a fire service or municipal environment is preferred, but not required.
Equivalent combinations of related education, experience, certification, and training may be considered.

- Ensure the maximum utilization of manpower, equipment, and supplies.

- Keep accurate records and files and maintain correct inventory levels.

Licenses, Certifications & Special Requirements - Texas Class C driver's license with a good driving record as measured by the City's evaluation system. Must have the ability to obtain a Texas Class B (exempt) driver's license within the time frame set by the department.
- Must be able to obtain NFPA 1851 Advanced Cleaning and Inspection Certification within the time frame set by the department.
- Must be able to obtain SCBA Repair Technician Certification from the department's primary SCBA manufacturer within the time frame set by the department.
Physical DemandsPhysical demands include but are not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, using hands and fingers to operate office equipment and machines, and occasionally lifting and/or moving objects up to and including 50 pounds. Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
Working ConditionsWork performed in warehouse, shop, and fire station environment. There is exposure to temperature extremes, humidity, loud noises, vibration, cleaning chemical, fumes, odors, dust, pollen, and other airborne particles.
EquipmentWork shall be performed with tools, appliances and equipment approved by those agencies and bodies that have control, authority, or approval of the design working ranges or limitations of those items; the employee has the responsibility to conform to those ranges and limitations.
Equipment may include but is not limited to: phone, computer, printer, fax, copier, scanner, calculator, and vehicle.
