This position offers an opportunity to develop technical expertise in energy storage fire protection while contributing to innovation, operational excellence, and Fluence's commitment to delivering safe, high-quality energy storage solutions worldwide.**Key Responsibilities*** Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand fire code requirements and translate them into compliant product designs or permitting solutions.* Apply fire protection engineering expertise to diagnose issues, evaluate risks, and develop effective solutions for complex technical challenges.* Design and implement code compliance matrices to extract and document precise fire code requirements and resulting design responses.* Identify and address code deficiencies and unique local jurisdiction requirements for project deployments.* Support, develop, and deliver training programs to internal teams, external stakeholders, and Fire Departments to ensure proper firstresponder actions during a thermal event.* Participate in technical issue management activities to streamline communication, root cause identification, and solution execution.* Stay current on industry code changes, emerging technologies, and trends to enhance fire safety practices and contribute to organizational growth.* Support Sales and Permitting teams with technical expertise, including participation in permitting reviews, code negotiations, and customer inquiries.* Contribute to broader fire protection initiatives such as testing programs, industry code committee engagements (NFPA, IEEE, UL, CESA, ACP, EUCG), and international certification efforts.**Required Qualifications & Experience*** Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent engineering experience.* 10–15 years of demonstrated experience in fire protection engineering or related fields.* Strong practical experience in: Fire protection design, Fire code compliance document development, CFD fire modeling and Fire protection permitting.* Proven ability to work independently on complex engineering projects with minimal guidance.* Strong analytical skills and problem solving capability, with the ability to interpret complex fire code requirements into sound technical solutions.* Experience negotiating with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and navigating diverse code environments.**Additional Skills*** Experience supporting largescale testing programs (e.g., deflagration, explosion, or battery variant testing).* Background in international certification requirements related to BESS fire protection.* Ability to mentor junior engineers or provide technical leadership on cross functional initiatives.* Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with Sales, Product Development, Compliance, and Engineering teams.* Demonstrated initiative, ownership, and adaptability in a fast paced, evolving environment.**Our Culture**At Fluence, our culture is the foundation that drives our ambitious growth strategy and fuels our mission to transform the future of energy.
