Field Service Technician - Maintenance & Repairs/Fire Door Inspector

Location: New York or New Jersey | Field-Based | 100% Travel Required


SummaryWe are hiring a Fire Door Inspector / Field Service Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair fire‑rated and smoke doors in healthcare and commercial facilities nationwide. This role ensures compliance with NFPA 80, NFPA 105, and International Building Code (IBC) standards through accurate inspections, detailed reporting, and hands‑on maintenance and repair work. This is a travel‑intensive role where you are paid to work and travel, supporting life‑safety compliance in critical environments.

What You’ll Do
  • Inspect fire‑rated and smoke doors per NFPA 80 standards
  • Complete REMEDI8® Fire Door Inspection training per TMP‑001 / ISO 17020:2012
  • Perform maintenance and minor repairs to doors, frames, and hardware
  • Repair or replace locksets, latches, closers, strike plates, and related hardware
  • Correct door clearances through shimming and alignment
  • Fill holes in doors and frames and perform minor surface repairs
  • Clean, install, and adjust closers and hardware to resolve latching or closing issues
  • Develop action plans for door replacements with facility stakeholders
  • Document completed and incomplete repairs with accurate specifications
  • Read and follow Life Safety Plans (LSPs) while navigating facilities independently
  • Complete tablet‑based inspection and repair reports
  • Follow infection control requirements in hospital environments
  • Maintain professional communication with customers and internal teams

  • Ability to read and work from Life Safety Plans independently

  • Self‑motivated with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Accurate record‑keeping and documentation habits

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders

  • Ability to work evenings or weekends as required
  • Ability to travel extensively

Additional Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license required (REAL ID required)
