Commercial Door TechnicianLocation: Phoenix, AZ
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Door Technician to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient professional with extensive experience installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial doors and door hardware. This position requires little to no training, so applicants must be able to diagnose issues, complete repairs efficiently, and provide excellent customer service while maintaining a safe work environment.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair:
    • Hollow metal and aluminum storefront doors
    • Sectional overhead doors
    • Rolling steel doors and grilles
    • Fire-rated doors
    • Commercial door hardware including closers, panic devices, hinges, locks, exit devices, and weather stripping
  • Diagnose mechanical and operational issues and recommend appropriate repairs.
  • Install and service electric operators and access control door hardware when applicable.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and document findings.
  • Read work orders, blueprints, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes, fire codes, and safety regulations.
  • Safely operate service vehicles, lifts, ladders, and power tools.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate professionally with customers.
  • Manage inventory of parts and maintain a clean, organized service vehicle.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, overtime, or emergency service as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 3+ years of commercial door installation and service experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Commercial door systems
    • Door hardware
    • Automatic door operators
    • Rolling steel and overhead doors
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical door issues.
  • Experience installing and adjusting commercial hardware to manufacturer specifications.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and at varying heights.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening, if required.
