Position Overview

As Payments Operations Analyst at Leap, you are a payments expert with a get-it-done mentality. Your job is to keep Leap Pay and our SaaS payments running safely, efficiently, and profitably: reviewing reports, identifying risks, spotting optimization opportunities, and surfacing clear recommendations to the Head of FinTech.

You're analytical, execution-oriented, and tech-savvy. You don't need to write code, but you understand how modern software systems connect - you know what an API is, you can read through technical documentation and vendor specs to understand what's actually being passed between systems, and you use AI tools to move fast. You don't wait to be told what to look at; you dig in, figure out the logic, and communicate clearly with both business stakeholders and developers.

You will partner closely with the Head of FinTech, Legal, Engineering, Product, and Finance to reduce risk, support payments optimization, and keep the Leap Pay roadmap moving.

Reporting Line

  • Reports to: Head of FinTech
  • Dotted line / shared reporting to: CFO / Finance function

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the health of Leap Pay and our SaaS payments: review operational and payments reports regularly, flag risks and anomalies, and surface recommendations with clear next steps
  • Support payments optimization efforts: analyze BPS, effective rates, interchange, ACH economics, and vendor pricing to identify trends and flag cost reduction opportunities to the Head of FinTech
  • Own project and risk management across payments operations: track open items, dependencies, and priorities; keep stakeholders aligned and initiatives moving
  • Use AI tools to monitor and maintain compliance with card network rules, PCI-DSS, SOC 2, BSA/AML, and GDPR/CCPA - staying current without manual overhead
  • Build and maintain payments and risk dashboards tracking key metrics: BPS, effective rates, ACH cap impact, Amex pass-through, attrition sensitivity, and compliance health
  • Maintain compliance documentation, risk assessments, vendor scorecards, policies, and operational playbooks
  • Facilitate Technical Partners & Onboarding:Serve as the main point of contact for new payment processors and gateways. Review their API documentation to understand capabilities, verify that data structures map to Leap's business needs, and coordinate sandbox testing and certification alongside Engineering
  • Bridge the Gap for Engineering:Translate vendor payment logic, error codes, and processing rules into clear operational requirements for the dev team, ensuring they have the business context needed to build efficient integrations
  • Own state money transmitter license tracking: maintain accurate filing calendars, renewal requirements, and records in coordination with Legal - this is a dedicated work stream, not a side task
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, Legal, Finance, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success to identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities; coordinate resolution and mitigation
  • Prepare internal reporting on payments operations and risk metrics for leadership review
  • Manage chargeback and dispute operations: monitor rates, identify fraud patterns, coordinate responses, and escalate threshold breaches to the Head of FinTech

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in payments operations, payments strategy, or a related field in a SaaS or fintech environment
  • Technical Literacy: Clear understanding of the modern payment processing ecosystem and how systems communicate - comfortable reading API documentation and understanding how data flows between platforms, even without an engineering background
  • Execution-oriented: you move fast, figure things out, and don't wait for perfect information before making a recommendation
  • Data & Tools: Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel or Google Sheets required; high comfort level learning and navigating software platforms is essential
  • AI-native: you actively use AI tools in your workflow-specifically for compliance monitoring, drafting operational documentation, synthesizing regulatory updates, and accelerating analysis; you can point to concrete examples
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS, SOC 2, BSA/AML, GDPR/CCPA) and comfort operating within regulated environments
  • Developer Liaison: Proven experience collaborating with product or engineering teams - comfortably reading vendor documentation to explain business logic and requirements to developers
  • Low-ego collaborator comfortable working cross-functionally with Engineering, Legal, Finance, and Product
  • Experience in home improvement, home services, or construction tech is a strong plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field required

Compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Pay Range
$100,000—$120,000 USD
