This role will provide hands-on technical leadership for FinOps initiatives, focused on increasing cost visibility, driving operational efficiencies, and embedding financial accountability into engineering and infrastructure workflows. The ideal candidate will bring deep FinOps expertise, strong cloud and infrastructure knowledge, and a proven ability to leverage automation and AI-assisted insights to identify optimization opportunities and reduce technology spend at scale.

This role partners closely with Architecture, Engineering, Infrastructure, Finance, and Technology Leadership to ensure cost is treated as a critical operational and design consideration across both cloud and on-premises environments. Key Responsibilities Lead FinOps initiatives across cloud and infrastructure platforms, driving cost optimization and financial accountability. Establish and maintain application-level cost visibility, allocation, chargeback, and reporting processes.

Identify and implement cost optimization opportunities, including: Rightsizing resources Reserved instances and savings plans Storage lifecycle management Architectural efficiency improvements Develop forecasting models, budgeting processes, anomaly detection capabilities, and variance analysis reporting. Deliver measurable cost savings and operational efficiency improvements across technology platforms. Build automation solutions to proactively monitor, alert, and remediate spend-related issues.

Utilize AI-assisted tools and insights to identify inefficiencies, spending risks, and optimization opportunities. Implement and maintain tagging, allocation, governance, and financial accountability standards. Integrate cost controls and FinOps practices into engineering workflows, operational processes, and infrastructure lifecycle management.

Create dashboards, reports, and executive-level presentations that communicate financial trends, optimization opportunities, and business impact. Partner closely with Finance, Infrastructure, Architecture, and Technology Leadership teams to support forecasting, capacity planning, and strategic investment decisions. Support the development and maturation of a growing FinOps function and operating model.

Required Qualifications 6-10+ years of experience in cloud, platform, infrastructure, or systems engineering. Proven hands-on FinOps experience in enterprise environments. Strong experience with Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) cost management, billing models, and optimization strategies.

Experience managing and optimizing on-premises and hybrid infrastructure costs. Demonstrated success delivering: Application-level cost allocation and chargeback Budgeting and forecasting Cost anomaly detection Variance analysis Measurable cost savings initiatives Strong automation and scripting skills, including: Python PowerShell Bash Equivalent automation technologies Experience developing automated guardrails, alerts, reporting, and remediation workflows. Experience utilizing AI-driven insights or anomaly detection to identify spend inefficiencies and financial risk.

Ability to automate cost recommendations, reporting, and remediation activities. Experience implementing tagging standards, governance frameworks, and cost allocation models at scale. Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate technical cost drivers into business outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications Experience operating FinOps programs in large-scale, multi-cloud environments. Kubernetes or container cost optimization experience. Experience incorporating cost as a non-functional requirement (NFR) during architecture and design reviews.

Familiarity with third-party FinOps and cloud cost management platforms. FinOps Foundation Certification or demonstrated FinOps program leadership experience. Ideal Candidates FinOps is a core area of expertise, not a secondary skill.

Strong understanding of both cloud and on-premises infrastructure cost management. Comfortable working directly with Finance, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Executive Leadership. Proactive, results-oriented professional who actively drives optimization efforts rather than simply reporting on costs.

Skilled at identifying trends, forecasting future demand, and delivering actionable recommendations. Strong communicator capable of presenting dashboards, reporting, and strategic insights to technical and business stakeholders alike. Experience in organizations where FinOps plays a critical role in technology and infrastructure decision-making.

Work Environment Hybrid schedule requiring three days per week onsite. Collaborative environment with regular interaction across Engineering, Finance, Infrastructure, and Executive Leadership teams. Opportunity to help establish and mature a growing FinOps function.
