POSITION PURPOSE: Performs developmental screenings to children. Initiates referrals for children and their parents to community agencies and professionals as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs developmental screenings to children ages 2.5-5.11 years.
  • Trains new personnel regarding Child Find procedures, protocols, and materials.
  • Assists in the coordination of the Child Find referral and screening process.
  • Assist families in accurately completing necessary paperwork required by agencies.
  • Effectively works with community agencies to provide services/programs to meet needs of children inside/outside of the school environment.
  • Coordinates with school personnel in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of children.
  • Compiles data and prepares various reports and records required by the school, district, and/or other agencies.
  • Maintains confidentiality when working with families and other personnel
  • Provides necessary follow-up with families

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of School Readiness, Chief Instructional Services Officer, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold or be eligible to hold a valid South Carolina teaching certificate. Certification in Early Childhood preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Prior tutorial experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of children.
  • Ability to work with others.
  • Willingness to follow directions.
  • Ability to handle unforeseen situations in accordance with Board Policy.
  • Ability to accept individual differences among children.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
