Job description

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is an independent office within the Department of Agriculture whose mission is to ensure economy, efficiency, and integrity in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) programs and operations through the successful execution of audits, investigations, and reviews.Qualifications:Specialized Experience for GS-14: One full-time year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service that demonstrates that the applicant has the extensive knowledge of: planning, conducting and reporting on complex audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), and all other applicable guidance; gathering, analyzing and summarizing data and audit results; writing draft and final audit reports; and identifying, evaluating and recommending changes.
Time in grade: Applicants must have served at the next lower grade, GS-13 for 52 weeks to be eligible for this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
