Job description

Job Description:

Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a highly motivated, analytical, and collaborative Finance Manager to join our growing Advertising Finance team! Combining an understanding of finance, strong practical knowledge of financial statements, and using data to make and drive decisions, this candidate will be the financial and strategic partner to our Sponsored Advertising and other Vendor Funded Marketing businesses. Specifically, this new role will be responsible for supporting our Offsite Advertising program and multi-channel guaranteed product offerings from a demand/yield enablement and campaign performance perspective. The position will work cross-functionally within the advertising org by supporting a wide variety of leaders and teams (ad product, pricing, operations, ad sales, inventory, engineering, etc.), where someone with a self-starter mentality, outstanding communication, and the ability to drive projects independently can thrive and make a meaningful impact on the business. This role will focus on building advanced reporting and forecasting functions from the ground up for a high-visibility and impactful business, as well as analyzing and evaluating new growth opportunities to support strategic decisions and ensure business and financial objectives are achieved.

At Chewy, we believe in ownership and accountability and value creativity. We are makers and doers who thrive on the desire to drive results. We approach our mission to provide the best service and customer experience anywhere with a dogged determination and a cheerful disposition. Sure, we work hard, but we have fun, too. Of course, that's not hard to do when you get to bring your favorite four-legged friend to the office.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work cross-functionally with the broader Chewy finance team, and the analytics, merchandising, product, marketing, tech, and accounting teams to fully understand the business, its customers (both vendors and end-users), and overall operations in order to develop new mechanisms and efficient processes

  • Effectively manage numerous projects at a given time in a fast-paced environment

  • Perform modeling and analytics required to synthesize large sets of data and produce concise outputs to convey recommendations and/or conclusions to leadership

  • Extract and analyze data from central databases using SQL, Hyperion/Oracle, and Tableau

  • Improve/scale processes and throughput of reporting and cadence activities via automation and adopting new tools (i.e., AI)

  • Recognize and propose analyses influencing business partners and finance leaders to drive positive changes in the business

  • Develop a deep understanding of the economics for Chewy’s Sponsored Advertising, Vendor Funded Marketing, and Retail businesses to support pricing, inventory monetization, and utilization, and other key strategic decisions

  • Partner with team members and cross-functional leaders and lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial review and forecasting processes to identify planning assumptions for key business drivers and track performance while explaining variances to plan and identifying risks and opportunities

  • Takes initiative in leading peers, team members, and business partners to help achieve business, team, and personal goals

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Analytics, Accounting, or similar required (or MBA)

  • 5+ years of relevant experience (Corporate/Strategic Finance, Business Analytics, Financial Analysis, Ops/Supply Chain) or 3+ years for MBA candidates, preferably with an understanding of digital advertising, brand, or retail finance

  • Strong analytical and modeling skills (building from the ground up), and experience in supporting business case development, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis

  • Advanced Excel (i.e., VLOOKUP/Index Match, SUMIFS, pivot tables, etc.)

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to think creatively, self-start, work independently, deal with ambiguity, and meet tight deadlines / prioritize changing workloads

  • Results-oriented mentality, highly energetic, dynamic individual with a hands-on mentality

  • Experience with SQL or other database query tools

The base salary range for this role is $110,500 - $176,000.00.
  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.

We offer different types of insurance and benefits, such as medical/Rx, vision, dental, life, disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness, and accident. We offer parental leave, family services benefits, backup dependent care, flexible spending accounts, telemedicine, pet adoption reimbursement, employee assistance program, and many discounts including 10% off pet insurance and 20% off at Chewy.com.
