Job description

Why GM Financial Bank?

GM Financial Bank is a newly formed bank. Team members joining now will play a pivotal role in shaping the bank, which will offer auto finance and deposit products. Joining GM Financial Bank means an opportunity to help build a customer-focused bank from the ground up. 

The VP Compliance Management - AML/CFT is responsible for the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism ("AML/CFT") Program that adheres to applicable Banking laws and regulations.  Manages the Bank's Sanctions and Watch List process.   Results of the Program are reported to senior management and the Board of Directors along with recommendations for improvement.  Works with business functions to identify AML/CFT risks and controls.

About the role:

This role leads the development, implementation, and governance of the Bank's Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CFT), and sanctions compliance programs to identify, monitor, and mitigate financial crime risks. The position provides strategic oversight of transaction monitoring, regulatory reporting, audits, and compliance initiatives while ensuring adherence to global regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

In this role you will:

  • Developing, implementing, administering, and maintaining all aspects of the AML/CFT Program.
  • Establish an effective global sanctions monitoring program including OFAC and other relevant jurisdictions.
  • Responsible for governance for both the AML/CFT Program and Sanctions and Watch List process.
  • Develop and administer the AML transaction monitoring systems to ensure appropriate parameters are in place to identify suspicious transactions and activity.
  • Provide strategic direction regarding AML/CFT trends, patterns, and external factors impacting the Bank's money laundering risk.
  • Files Suspicious Activity Reports and responds to FinCEN 314(a) requests.
  • Recommend enhancements to AML/CFT Program and Sanctions and Watch List process.
  • Maintain oversight on the implementation and validation of mitigation plans.  
  • Oversee the responses to any audit plan and provide updates to the SVP, Chief Compliance Officer.
