General Description and Classification Standards:
Provides forecasting for the financial planning activities of the business unit. Participates in preparation of the annual budget, reviews monthly expenditures, and ensures that budgetary goals are met. This is a fully seasoned professional level capable of independently carrying out most assignments typical of the profession.
Supervision Received:
Performs work under general supervision with review and advice from manager or a senior-level professional.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.
• Provides forecasting for the financial planning activities of the business unit.
• Participates in preparation of the annual budget, reviews monthly expenditures, and ensures that budgetary goals are met.
• Supports creation and implementation of processes and tools that drive delivery of timely and accurate budget for assigned departments.
• Performs special financial planning and/or project analysis.
• Analyzes appropriations, expenditures, and encumbrances of departmental capital and operating budgets using appropriate database.
• Analyzes and reconciles departmental budgets and contracts to ensure compliance with policies generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Prepares summaries and reports for Budget and Finance as needed.
• Monitors department spending patterns in order to manage operational budget and forecast expenditures.
• Applies organizational policies.
• Provides guidance and training as required to lower-level analysts.
• Assists with interim and year end audit.
• Researches and resolves customer account disputes.
• Summarizes data into trend reports.
• Gathers and compiles data; imports and enters into accounting systems.
• Reviews and prepares variable and fixed monthly billing.
• May interpret organizational policies and recommend exceptions.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience
• Associate's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; and two (2) years of work experience in budget analysis.
Licensures and Certifications - None required.
Preferred Requirements - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and one (1) year of financial experience.
