What does a financial consulting intern do?

A Financial Consulting Intern supports consulting teams by conducting research, analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and assisting with client presentations. Their work helps companies make informed financial decisions, improve business processes, and address specific financial challenges. To thrive as a Financial Consulting Intern, you need strong analytical skills, foundational knowledge in finance or accounting, and relevant academic progress towards a related degree. Familiarity with Excel, financial modeling tools, and data analysis software is often required, and coursework or certifications such as CFA Level I can be advantageous. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and teamwork are standout soft skills in this role. These abilities are crucial for delivering accurate financial insights, supporting client projects, and succeeding in a collaborative, fast-paced consulting environment.

What types of projects do financial consulting interns typically work on?

Financial Consulting Interns often assist with tasks such as financial modeling, market research, and preparing client presentations. They may be involved in analyzing financial statements, supporting due diligence efforts, and gathering industry data for consulting projects. Interns typically work closely with both junior and senior consultants, contributing to team meetings and collaborating on deliverables. This hands-on experience allows interns to develop a strong understanding of client needs while building technical and communication skills valued in the consulting industry.
