Job description

Coherent Economics is a boutique economic consulting firm with offices in Illinois, Massachusetts and Texas. We are seeking a part-time Research Assistant Intern for Summer 2027 for our College Station office.
Our internship program is designed to provide students with meaningful, hands-on experience in economic consulting while exposing them to real-world litigation, regulatory, and consulting matters. Successful interns will have the opportunity to build relationships across the firm, develop valuable analytical skills, and be considered for future full-time opportunities at Coherent.
As a Research Assistant Intern, you will work alongside Analysts, Consultants, Directors, and expert economists on high-stakes antitrust, intellectual property, damages, and valuation matters. Interns are active members of case teams and contribute to research, analysis, and client deliverables while receiving mentorship, training, and professional development throughout the internship.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Data Analysis and Economic Modeling
    Assist case teams with analyzing datasets and developing quantitative models using tools such as Excel, Stata, R, Python, and SQL. Support economic analyses by helping identify trends, summarize findings, and validate data.
  • Research and Economic Investigation
    Conduct industry, market, and company research; review economic literature; and summarize findings that support case strategy and expert opinions.
  • Case Support and Deliverables
    Assist in preparing presentations, exhibits, reports, and other client-facing materials. Learn how complex economic concepts are analyzed and communicated in litigation and consulting engagements.
  • Collaboration and Team Support
    Work closely with Analysts, Consultants, Directors, and Partners while gaining exposure to multiple practice areas and industries. Participate in team discussions and contribute to ongoing casework.

Qualifications
  • Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.6
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with Stata, R, Python, SQL, or similar analytical software is preferred
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative reasoning skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a highly organized, process-oriented work style
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and commitment
  • Ability to commute to our College Station office
