Job Description:

The Staff Accountant, Practice Accounting, reports to the Manager of Practice Accounting and supports the month-end close and financial reporting process within a specific functional pod on the operational accounting team. This role is responsible for preparing journal entries and reconciliations while ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP. This entry-level role is an opportunity to build foundational accounting and analytical skills while contributing to the accuracy and timeliness of the organization's financial results.

This is a hybrid role in Nashville, TN.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with monthly close activities, including consolidations and preparation of financial statements.
  • Support the Senior Accountant and Manager in variance analysis and financial reviews.
  • Maintain organized supporting documentation for all accounting transactions.
  • Assist in preparing schedules and analyses for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Participate in implementing new accounting standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Build strong working relationships with peers, practice staff, and internal finance teams.
  • Support ad hoc projects and analyses as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned to help drive our mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.

Required or Preferred Qualifications:

  • 0-4+ years of accounting experience
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls.
  • Working knowledge of Workday or other ERP platforms is a plus
  • Active CPA license or working toward CPA license preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required (Master's degree preferred)

  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (debits/credits, accruals, reconciliations).
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
