If you've ever seen Antiques Roadshow, what we do is similar. We host boutique buying events at hotels across the country, where customers sell estate jewelry, coins, precious metals, watches, and other valuables directly to our team.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Inventory Analyst / Inventory Manager to oversee inventory operations while serving as the financial steward of our inventory. This role goes beyond inventory management, it requires someone who has a thorough understanding of the accounting side of inventory, including inventory valuation, cost flow, inventory controls, reconciliations, and the impact inventory has on financial reporting and gross margins.

Reporting directly to the Accounting department, this position will partner closely with Operations, Product Sorting, and Leadership to ensure inventory is accurately tracked, valued, reconciled, and reported in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

The ideal candidate has an Inventory Analyst mindset, someone who understands both the operational movement of inventory and its financial impact on the business. You'll help build scalable inventory processes, strengthen internal controls, support implementation of a Salesforce-based inventory system, and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the Company's independent auditors by providing all information, documentation, and operational support necessary to facilitate periodic physical inventory observations and related audit procedures.
  • Manage inventory operations across wholesale, e-commerce, and marketplace channels, including eBay and Whatnot.
  • Ensure inventory is accurately tracked, valued, and reconciled in accordance with GAAP and company financial policies.
  • Partner with Accounting to support month-end close, inventory reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
  • Analyze inventory variances, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Understand how inventory costs flow through the business, including inventory valuation, cost of goods sold (COGS), and gross margin impacts.
  • Monitor inventory transactions to ensure financial accuracy across purchasing, receiving, sorting, sales, and fulfillment.
  • Support the implementation, organization, and ongoing management of a Salesforce-based inventory management system.
  • Develop scalable inventory processes and internal controls that improve accuracy, accountability, and operational efficiency.
  • Create and maintain systems that ensure products are accurately tracked, stored, and easily located.
  • Collaborate closely with Accounting, Operations, and Product Sorting teams to maintain inventory accuracy and reporting consistency.
  • Recommend process improvements that strengthen inventory controls, improve reporting accuracy, and support profitability.
  • Build strong working relationships across departments while confidently enforcing inventory standards and best practices.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Inventory Management, Inventory Control, Inventory Accounting, Cost Accounting, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of inventory valuation, inventory controls, reconciliations, financial reporting, and GAAP.
  • Experience working closely with an Accounting or Finance department.
  • Experience analyzing inventory through both operational and financial perspectives, including margin and profitability impacts.
  • Experience supporting inventory audits and maintaining strong inventory controls.
  • Experience managing high-value inventory required; experience with precious metals, jewelry, luxury goods, or similar asset-sensitive products is highly preferred.
  • Experience implementing or managing inventory systems; Salesforce experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with inventory reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments while maintaining accountability.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and enjoys improving processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience overseeing inventory valued at $20M+ preferred.
  • Background in manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, retail, or other high-value inventory environments.

Work Environment

  • Full-time, on-site position based in South Barrington and Schaumburg, Illinois.
  • Reports directly to the Accounting department.
  • Partners daily with Accounting, Operations, and Product Sorting teams.
  • Fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with opportunities to build scalable processes and make a significant impact.

Why Join The Heartland Roadshow?

  • Competitive salary of $95,000–$100,000
  • Opportunity to build and improve inventory processes across a growing, multi-channel business
  • Work closely with executive leadership and the Accounting team
  • Play a key role in implementing new systems and strengthening inventory controls
  • Collaborative team environment where your ideas and process improvements will have a direct impact
