Responsibilities
OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY - Global
The Financial Analyst III conducts in-depth, complex financial analysis, strategic planning and modeling projects using a variety of the decision support systems and working with cross-functional teams. Highly proficient at data mining and abstracting information from all decision support tools in order to complete financial projects. Ability to analyze large data sets and create executive-level reporting. Performs such analyses with limited to no supervision.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Global
  1. Conducts moderate to complex financial analysis projects using decision support systems, data warehouses or other data and analytical tools with limited to no supervision.
  2. Understands many of the decision support systems and tools available to complete financial projects.
  3. Understands how the major functions and processes in financial, coding and compliance decision processes are related and understands how changes within one process may affect other functions.
  4. Understands many healthcare financial topics; for example, hospital reimbursement, cost accounting, operating budgets, capital investment analysis, profitability statements, accounting principles, revenue cycle management and performance development.
  5. Proactively develops improved methods of reporting and analyzing both clinical and financial data that will enhance the operations.
  6. Abstracts data from a number of the decision support systems in order to complete financial projects. Reviews data for accuracy and reasonableness before presenting to management.
  7. Summarizes the analyses in a professional document and communicates the findings of the project to team management and with other teams impacted by the analysis.
  8. Leads the maintenance of the assigned decision support core function: cost accounting process, charge master management, operating budget, capital budget, and general financial and operational analysis.
  9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand impacts of operational changes on financial performance and aide in system-wide strategic project execution.

Qualifications
REQUIRED
  1. Bachelor's Degree preferably in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Public Health or Healthcare Administration or similar field Required
  2. Minimum 3 years of experience in decision support role OR combination of experience and relevant advanced degree.
  3. Skilled with using Microsoft Office products; advanced level ability with Excel & Access applications.
  4. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze significant amount of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  5. Demonstrated executive-level professional communication skills in written reports and oral formats.
  6. Experience with decision support products.
  7. Experience with Standard Query Language (SQL).

PREFERRED
  1. Master's in Business Administration or Health Administration.
  2. Designation as Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  3. Two years' experience as a Senior Financial Analyst or Health Care Consultant.
  4. Strong knowledge of and experience with databases using SQL or other advanced system languages. Adept at creating and managing complex queries.
  5. Knowledge of CPT/HCPCS codes or experience in charging or performing charging validation reviews.
