Job description

Primary Responsibility:
Support the preparation of SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K's, etc.), internal management reporting, and financial results analyses. Perform technical research to ensure financial statements and disclosures are in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. Process internal and external audit requests.
What you'll Do:

  • Prepare monthly reporting packages that include a full set of financial statements and an analytical review explanation of significant variances of the current financial position and results of operations against prior period results
  • Prepare the external financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, statements of shareholders' equity, and statements of cash flows
  • Prepare footnote disclosures to be included in interim and year-end financial statements and complete the related GAAP checklist
  • Maintain share-based compensation activity reports, including monthly expense calculations. Prepares share-based compensation disclosures for interim and annual financial statements, as well as annual proxy disclosures.
  • Perform quarterly earnings per share calculation and related documentation
  • Support annual goodwill impairment testing procedures and complete documentation of results
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly MD&A and related non-GAAP disclosures, including: same store/non-same store and constant currency results of operations; Core EBITDA and Funds from Operations
  • Liaise with the investor relations team to complete the earnings release and earnings call script by validation and tie-out of all financial data, and to address financial questions received from investors
  • Optimize use of Workiva for Financial Reporting, including, but not limited to, integration with Oracle and developing a monthly reporting package and analytics within Workiva
  • Assist with other SEC filings as needed, including Annual Proxy, 8-K's, and registration statements
  • Identify efficiencies and potential improvements within various reporting processes
  • Prepare and ensure adherence to required SOX controls documentation for assigned areas
  • Perform technical accounting and SEC reporting research and document conclusions in executive memos
  • Assist internal and external auditors with requests
  • Assist the IT function with the implementation of new accounting and reporting solutions
  • Other duties as requested

What Experience and Education You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, plus 2-4 years of financial reporting experience; CPA preferred; Big 4 audit experience with public company clients preferred
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
  • SOX compliance experience required
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access and accounting software systems and forecasting/budgeting tools
  • Oracle experience preferred. Working experience with other systems, such as SAP, Great Plains, or any other large ERP system a plus,
  • Experience using and implementing Workiva preferred
  • Experience using accounting research tools such as CCH or Checkpoint Learning required
  • REIT experience a plus
