Job description

The Office of Financial Aid is responsible for coordinating and administering all student financial assistance awarded to USF students in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and guidelines.  The office is the main point of contact for all financial aid program information for current and prospective students and parents.  The office is responsible for coordinating and managing the awarding and disbursement of over $400 million in financial aid funds on an annual basis, interpreting changes to federal, state, and institutional regulations, and translating the effect/impact to students and parents in a manner they can understand particularly first-generation students; providing an array of financial aid support options for students and their families; and providing oversight to monitor the entire process to ensure institutional compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.   

This position is a member of the Scholarship Team. The position is responsible for processing USF scholarships award and disbursements. Providing information about the financial aid process, state and institutional scholarship eligibility, and general scholarship donor information to students, parents and staff members.

Minimum Qualifications: 

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with two years of experience in office or administrative positions. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

One year working in higher education financial aid with Title IV experience.  Experience working with some aspect of scholarship management in a financial aid office or scholarship awarding unit in a university/college environment whose mission was to award scholarships to eligible students.  Experience in a University Foundation Office or as a development officer would also be helpful. 

Responsible for providing clerical support to the Manager and Advisors of the Scholarship Team.

Scanning student scholarship documents into BDMS Imaging System. Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the scanned student and scholarship information.

Advising students and parents on the financial aid process via the telephone and OFA front counter.  Communicating with the USF staff (Foundation, colleges, departments, etc.), scholarship donors, and other outside agencies to resolve discrepancies and errors.  

Responsible for adjusting students' federal, state, and institutional financial aid based on a student's eligibility and ensuring that USF complies with the Federal Title IV, State of Florida, and institutional financial aid policies. 

Participate in the training and supervising of student assistants.

Performs other duties as assigned.
