Purpose:

Athene is seeking an Associate Vice President (AVP) - Finance & Actuarial Technology Delivery to lead the strategy, execution, and engineering of technology solutions supporting Actuarial, Finance, and Reinsurance. This leader will be responsible for building scalable, secure, and well-controlled platforms that enable actuarial processing, liability data management, reinsurance onboarding, and downstream financial reporting while driving modernization across these critical business capabilities.
This role is instrumental in establishing Athene's Liability Data Mart/Subledger and Reinsurance technology organization, building a high-performing engineering team, and partnering closely with Finance, Actuarial, Accounting, and Technology leaders to deliver innovative solutions that accelerate business growth. Success in this role requires a strong combination of engineering leadership, business acumen, AI fluency, and the ability to influence across complex organizations. At Athene, you'll help shape technology that supports one of the industry's fastest-growing retirement services organizations while partnering with Apollo to deliver innovative financial solutions in a collaborative, high-performance culture built on our BEAM values.

Accountabilities:

Key Deliverables

  • Lead the strategy, delivery, and continuous modernization of technology solutions supporting actuarial processing, liability data management, reinsurance onboarding, and finance integration, ensuring scalable, secure, and business-aligned outcomes.

  • Build and lead a high-performing engineering organization focused on Liability Data Mart/Subledger and Reinsurance technology, developing leadership capability, technicalexpertise, and a sustainable operating model.

  • Partner with Actuarial, Finance, Reinsurance Accounting, and Technology leaders to design integrated solutions that connect actuarial data, reinsurance structures, accounting processes, and financial reporting.

  • Establish engineering excellence through modern software development practices, cloud-native architecture, automation, DevOps, quality engineering, and strong governance across the software development lifecycle.

  • Champion AI-enabled software delivery byleveragingAI-assisted development, testing, documentation, analytics, and workflow automation to improve engineering productivity and business outcomes whilemaintainingenterprise governance.

  • Foster a culture aligned with Athene's BEAM values by empowering teams, encouraging innovation, acting with urgency, promoting collaboration, and continuously improving how technology delivers value to the business.


Qualifications and Experience:

What You Need to Bring

  • 8+ years of relevant experience; including 4+ years of formal or informal leadership, leading enterprise application engineering, technology delivery, or platform development teams supporting finance, actuarial, insurance, or similarly complex business domains.

  • Proven experience leading large-scale technology delivery, modern engineering practices, enterprise architecture, and cross-functional solution development while influencing executive and business stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of actuarial, finance, accounting, liability data, reinsurance, or other complex financial business processes, with the ability to translate business needs into scalable technology solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and lead high-performing engineering organizations while fostering innovation, continuous improvement, critical thinking, adaptability, and responsible adoption of AI-enabled development practices.

  • Excellent executive communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across Technology and business organizations.

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Actuarial Science, Engineering, ora relateddiscipline; advanced degree preferred.
