Vice President of Finance (Dallas)

Flooret

Dallas, TX • On-site

Full-time

Posted 2 days ago

Job description

  • You decide once you’ve seen every angle, then move fast.
  • You need independence, freedom, and the room to drive change.
  • You’d rather build the system than maintain it.
  • You lead. You’re not really a team player, and you bow out when conversations get social or political.
  • Your communication is factual, no-nonsense, and what some would call blunt.
About Flooret

Flooret is the largest digital flooring brand in the United States, and we’re rewriting how a flooring company gets built.

  • Premium look. Everyday price. Designer-curated product, engineered better than legacy flooring, sold with a buying experience the category has never seen.
  • A real brand, not a category SKU. Demand is pulled by brand, not chased with price. We invest in storytelling, design, and creator partnerships, and the market rewards us for it.
  • Profitable, growing, and disciplined. Record top- and bottom-line years behind us, with strong momentum carrying into 2026. We scale without giving up unit economics.
  • A multi-channel breakout in front of us. Our D2C engine is funding aggressive expansion across big-box retail, marketplaces, a fast-growing Partner+ program, and a Commercial business with real pipeline and growing revenue.
  • Product launches that move the category. We launch constantly. Provence Natural Hardwood, TrueStep Treads, and a deep pipeline behind them. We ship what nobody else can.
  • Speed is the moat. EOS-run, in-person in Grapevine. Lean team. Real accountability. Real wins. We move with urgency because most decisions are reversible. We measure ourselves on outcomes, not activity.
The role

The VP of Finance is the senior owner of the financial engine of the business: the books, the controls, the cash, the close, the compliance, the team, and the systems.

Just as importantly, you’re constantly looking forward. You proactively hunt for ways to save the company money, sharpen unit economics, optimize working capital, and unlock profitability as we scale. You don’t just keep score. You shape the next move.

What you’ll own
  • Accounting & Controllership. GL integrity, monthly close, AP/AR, journal entries, reconciliations, US GAAP-aligned reporting. The books close on time, every time.
  • Cash & Treasury. Cash management, banking relationships, credit facilities, working capital planning. We’re inventory-heavy, so this matters.
  • Tax & Compliance. Sales tax across every U.S. state (non-trivial in our category), income tax coordination with external CPAs, state registrations, business licensing, 1099s, regulatory filings.
  • Audit Readiness. Whether we are formally audited in any given year or not, our books are always audit-ready.
  • Systems & Process. Own the finance stack: QuickBooks Online, Luminous, Gusto, and Shopify-connected financial flows, plus banking, AP, and expense tooling. Evaluate, upgrade, and automate continuously. We’re allergic to manual work that software can do.
  • Team & External Partners. Build and lead the accounting team. Manage the external bench: CPA firm, audit firm, tax counsel, bankers, insurance brokers.
QualificationsRequired
  • Deep, hands-on accounting fluency. You can roll up your sleeves into a close, a reconciliation, or a thorny sales-tax question without flinching.
  • QuickBooks Online experience running a real finance function. Bonus if you’ve ever graduated a company off QBO, or know exactly when it’s time to.
  • Inventory and cost-accounting comfort. We move a lot of physical product.
  • A track record of building, cleaning up, or upgrading finance functions. Not just maintaining them.
Strongly preferred
  • Prior finance leadership experience at a comparable stage and complexity.
  • E-commerce, D2C, or consumer-product experience (Shopify, multi-state sales tax, payment processors, returns, COGS attribution).
Bonus
  • Big 4 (or top regional) public accounting foundation.
Who thrives in this seat
  • You finish things. You own closure. The books close when they say they’ll close. Audits don’t slip. Filings hit the date. You don’t need to be reminded twice. Or once.
  • You speak in numbers. Your recommendations come with the analysis attached. You lead with evidence, not opinion. When you push back, you push back with data. And you do push back.
  • You operate independently. Give you a function and a goal and you’ll structure the work yourself. We don’t micromanage. You wouldn’t tolerate it if we did.
  • You like the cycle. A clean monthly close is satisfying to you, not boring. Recurring rigor doesn’t drain your energy; it’s how you know the engine is running.
  • You’re direct. Short meetings. Clear answers. No hedging. If you don’t know, say so. If you’re worried about something, raise it early.
  • You build systems. You instinctively look at a manual process and ask whether software, automation, or a better workflow could do it instead. Then you go do it.
  • You’re confident without being precious. You can be challenged, you can challenge back, and ego doesn’t sit between you and the right answer.
Compensation & location
  • Competitive base salary and benefits, commensurate with experience. Full-time, in-office at our Grapevine, Texas headquarters. This role is not remote.
