Job description

We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the accounting and financial operations of a privately held, multi-entity organization.

This position will serve as the primary day-to-day financial resource for ownership and will be responsible for financial reporting, cash-flow management, accounting oversight, debt and financing administration, and financial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting and financial operations for multiple related entities
  • Manage and monitor cash flow and working capital
  • Review outstanding obligations and recommend creditor/payment priorities
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activity
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports
  • Explain financial results, trends, discrepancies, and cash needs to ownership
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Monitor company debt, loans, and owner-funded financing arrangements
  • Track loan advances, principal, interest, repayments, and balances
  • Oversee inventory financing and related financial transactions
  • Review intercompany transactions and reconciliations
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow projections
  • Establish and maintain accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Provide financial direction and oversight to administrative/accounting support staff
  • Coordinate with CPAs, banks, lenders, tax professionals, and other outside financial partners
  • Advise ownership regarding financial risks, priorities, and corrective actions
  • Assist the owner with all insurance, banking

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Prior Controller, senior accounting, or comparable financial-management experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, cash-flow management, and general ledger accounting
  • Experience with multi-entity privately held businesses preferred
  • QuickBooks is helpful but must have advanced Excel/spreadsheet experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to independently evaluate financial information and provide recommendations to ownership
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills

This is a hands-on Controller/office management position requiring both accounting expertise and the ability to analyze the overall financial condition of the businesses, manage competing financial obligations, and provide ownership with clear financial guidance.
