Description of Job Duties
Student workers serve as assistants to the staff of the Offices of Campus Safety and Residence Life. Student workers report to the Director of Residence Life. Responsibilities include general clerical and office support, assisting with projects, data entry and office maintenance.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Learn the policies and procedures of the Campus Safety and Residence Life offices.
  • Greet students, parents, faculty, staff and guests of the office.
  • Answer telephone calls. Take and deliver accurate phone messages.
  • Apply general office skills such as typing, creation and maintenance of files, and the use of business-oriented computer systems, including word processing, database management and spreadsheets.
  • Make photocopies, file paperwork, and assist with mailings by preparing envelopes and labels.
  • Communicate appropriately using base unit radio.
  • Process lost and found items.
  • Process parking applications, tickets and payments.
  • Assist students with completing appropriate Residence Life forms.
  • Keep the office neat and clean.
  • Assisting the Directors/Staff/Officers with various projects.

  • Enrolled as an NCC student, attending classes during the academic year.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and interpersonal skills in dealing with people both internal and external to the College, in person, electronically, and on the telephone.
  • Handle a number of tasks concurrently, in an environment when interruptions are common, at times without direct supervision. This requires a person who is well organized, detail oriented, flexible and able to efficiently establish priorities.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and time management skills.
  • Accurately process and organize large amounts of information and data within prescribed time frames.
  • Work effectively as a member of a staff where cooperation and team work are essential.
  • Communicate in a clear, professional and friendly manner both verbally and in writing, which will reflect positively on the College.
