At Apple, great ideas have a way of becoming great products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. Claris International Inc., an Apple company, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of database engineers in designing, delivering, and operating robust data platforms for client-facing solutions. In this role, you will combine deep database architecture expertise with hands-on delivery rigor, ensuring projects are executed on time, to specification, and with production-grade quality. You will translate client requirements into scalable, secure technical designs while fostering a culture of accountability and execution excellence.

You will own the end-to-end technical lifecycle of FileMaker Server, including schema design, data modeling, replication strategies, backup and recovery architecture, observability, security, and performance optimization. Your leadership will ensure that platform capabilities are engineered for scalability, high availability, operational excellence, and long-term maintainability across distributed server environments.
In this role, you will drive technical direction for core platform engineering features, enabling reliable data services, secure multi-user operations, and enterprise-grade resilience for FileMaker core technology.

Experience designing scalable architectures across Server, Client, WebDirect, APIs, and cloud or on-premises deployments.
Experience delivering complex systems on schedule while maintaining quality standards.
Experience with data modeling, schema design, and normalization principles.
Experience communicating technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of modern cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and hybrid deployment models, as well as C++.
Experience with enterprise-scale database performance tuning, security frameworks, and compliance standards (such as SOC 2, GDPR, or HIPAA).
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities and navigate stakeholder relationships.
Experience implementing monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions for production databases.
