Job description

Solutions Engineer, New Business (JSCAPE)OUR MISSION

At Redwood Software we unleash human potential. We empower our customers with lights-out automation for their mission-critical business processes.

ABOUT US

Redwood Software is the leading orchestration platform for the autonomous enterprise, driving business transformation at the lowest total cost of ownership. Redwood empowers organizations to intelligently automate and orchestrate mission-critical business and IT processes across complex ERP, hybrid cloud, data and emerging agentic AI systems. Through its SaaS-first automation fabric, with AI embedded across the automation lifecycle, Redwood accelerates the path to autonomous operations. JSCAPE by Redwood is the enterprise MFT platform within that fabric: a platform-independent, protocol-universal secure file transfer solution trusted by more than 1,000 enterprises in 57 countries, with a zero-breach track record since 1999 and active third-party certifications that most MFT providers can't match. Backed by 30 years of experience and trusted by more than 50% of the Fortune 50, Redwood helps organizations free up their people to focus on the work that actually moves the business forward.

CORE VALUES
  • One Team. One Redwood.
  • Make Your Own Weather
  • Obsess over Customer Success
  • Work the Problem
  • Be Curious
  • Own the Outcome
  • Respect Each Other
YOUR IMPACT

In 2023, a critical vulnerability in a widely deployed enterprise file transfer platform exposed more than 2,700 organizations to data exfiltration. Overnight, file transfer moved from an infrastructure line item to a boardroom agenda. Enterprise buyers accelerated plans to replace legacy FTP tooling, point solutions, and patched-together scripts with platforms built for the current threat environment. The global MFT market is valued at $2.1 billion and projected to grow at 11.2% CAGR through 2034, driven by regulatory pressure, rising data volumes, and tighter accountability requirements around how sensitive data moves between organizations.

JSCAPE has held a zero-breach record since 1999. It supports SFTP, FTP/S, AS2, OFTP2, HTTP/S, WebDAV, and more, with active certifications including SOC 2 Type I and II, ISO 27001, Drummond Certified, and FIPS 140-2/3. Redwood is a Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader for Service Orchestration and Automation Platforms two years running. In a market where buyers have watched high-profile breaches play out in real time, that combination closes gaps other vendors struggle to explain away. We're growing the Solutions Engineering team to meet the demand. In this role, you're the technical resource for enterprise buyers in regulated industries, walking them through what JSCAPE does and whether it fits their security and compliance requirements.

  • Cover the full MFT surface area. Present and position JSCAPE's capabilities across its core use cases: B2B trading partner file exchange, internal process automation, secure data movement in regulated industries, legacy FTP consolidation, and hybrid/cloud deployment. You won't be a specialist in every protocol or industry vertical on day one, but you'll develop enough depth to lead discovery and qualify the right technical fit for each prospect.
  • Demonstrate JSCAPE with security and compliance fluency. Deliver technical presentations and live product demonstrations that translate JSCAPE's security architecture (protocol coverage, encryption depth, audit trails, authentication controls, and certification posture) into concrete compliance outcomes and risk reduction for buyers in regulated industries.
  • Use AI tools as a standard part of how you work. Leverage LLM-based research, prompt-driven workflows, and AI productivity tooling to accelerate demo preparation, account research, competitive analysis, and technical documentation.
  • Position confidently in a competitive MFT market. Develop a working understanding of the MFT competitive field well enough to articulate JSCAPE's differentiation, handle objections live, and understand why you win and why you lose, especially in security-led and compliance-driven evaluations.
  • Structured evaluations. Lead proof-of-concept work with prospects to validate integration scenarios, demonstrate protocol flexibility, and prove security and compliance outcomes, including API integration and light scripting (REST APIs, Python, bash) where needed to close technical gaps.
  • Build toward Redwood's broader platform. As your capabilities grow, develop fluency across Redwood's broader product set, including RunMyJobs for Service Orchestration and Automation, to position JSCAPE as part of an integrated enterprise automation story rather than a standalone product.
  • Stay ahead of the MFT, security, and compliance space. Keep building your understanding of how the category is developing, from AI-driven security monitoring and anomaly detection in file transfer infrastructure to emerging regulatory frameworks and protocol standards, and bring that context into every prospect conversation.
  • Uphold Redwood's standards. Maintain the highest ethical standards across all customer-facing work, representing the company with professionalism and technical credibility at every level of the prospect organization.

What we're looking for in how you work:

  • Resourceful: You're constantly curious and keep building your AI and technical knowledge as a regular part of the job, not a separate initiative.
  • Competitive: You bring initiative, confidence, and a results-oriented mindset to every pursuit.
  • Goal-Oriented: You set meaningful objectives, track them rigorously, and hold yourself accountable to outcomes.
  • Detail-Oriented: You're organized and exercise sound judgment, able to manage multiple technical evaluations and sales cycles simultaneously without things falling through.
  • Communicator: You can explain security protocols, compliance requirements, and integration architecture clearly to both a network engineer and a CISO, and you know the difference matters.
  • Adaptable: You're comfortable shifting priorities and handling complex, dynamic requirements in a fast-moving enterprise sales environment.
YOUR EXPERIENCE

The most important thing we're hiring for is technical aptitude and intellectual curiosity, particularly around security, networking, and infrastructure. Domain knowledge deepens over time; the instinct to get to the bottom of a technical problem cannot be taught.

What we require:

  • 3+ years in a pre-sales, solutions engineering, or adjacent technical role in enterprise software: cybersecurity, networking, infrastructure, compliance, file transfer/integration, or similar.
  • Networking fundamentals as a working requirement. You're comfortable with the TCP/IP stack, DNS resolution, firewall rules and packet flow, DMZ architectures, and reverse proxy behavior. When an SFTP connection fails in a customer environment, you know where to start. This is not a nice-to-have. Networking is central to the JSCAPE sales cycle and the environments you'll be working in.
  • Network and integration architecture. You can map out how a file transfer solution fits into an enterprise environment: where it sits relative to firewalls, load balancers, cloud services, and business applications. JSCAPE deployments regularly involve designing connectivity between internal systems and external trading partners, and you need to be comfortable drawing that picture and talking through it with infrastructure teams.
  • Technical aptitude for integration. REST API comfort and light scripting (Python, bash, or equivalent) sufficient to build automation triggers, validate configurations, or debug issues in a POC environment.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on use of AI tools in a professional context: LLMs, prompt-based workflows, AI-assisted research, AI productivity tooling. This is a baseline requirement, not a differentiator. Bonus if you understand how AI capabilities like anomaly detection, intelligent automation, and agentic orchestration are beginning to reshape enterprise file transfer and data pipeline infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with agentic AI and AI orchestration concepts. You understand what multi-agent systems are, how LLMs are being embedded into enterprise workflows, and can hold a substantive conversation with technical buyers about where this is headed.
  • Ability to bridge technical depth and business risk: credible in a room with network architects and security engineers, while equally effective communicating risk reduction and compliance ROI to executive and compliance stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

A head start, not a hard filter. We'll invest in the rest:

  • Prior hands-on experience with JSCAPE, GoAnywhere, MOVEit, Axway, or an equivalent enterprise MFT platform.
  • File transfer protocol literacy: familiarity with SFTP and one or more of AS2, FTP/S, HTTP/S, OFTP2, WebDAV, including how they differ in security posture, compliance applicability, and enterprise deployment pattern. We'll develop this with you.
  • Encryption and PKI fundamentals: AES and PGP encryption, TLS/SSL certificate management, SSH key authentication, digital signatures, and MDN for AS2 non-repudiation.
  • Compliance framework literacy: working familiarity with HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOX, or GDPR as they apply to data exchange and file transfer.
  • Authentication architecture: LDAP, Active Directory, SSO, and MFA as applied to enterprise access controls in MFT environments.
  • SAP integration experience: EDI/IDoc-based file exchange via SFTP, or familiarity with how secure file transfer integrates into S/4HANA and broader SAP ecosystem processes. Redwood operates deeply in the SAP ecosystem and will develop this knowledge in you.
  • Trading partner management and B2B EDI concepts: X12, EDIFACT, and AS2-based workflows.
  • Cloud storage and cloud-native integrations: AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage, and how enterprise MFT platforms interact with them.
  • High-availability and disaster recovery architecture patterns: clustering, load balancing, and failover configurations.
  • Regulated vertical experience: healthcare, financial services, retail, or government environments where compliance is a primary buying driver.
  • Familiarity with Redwood's broader automation platform, including RunMyJobs and the SOAP market category.
  • Experience in Customer Success, Technical Support, or Professional Services.
  • Familiarity with network and architecture diagramming tools such as Miro, Lucidchart, Visio, Excalidraw, or Mermaid.
