How much do fifo utility worker jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 3, 2026, the average hourly pay for fifo utility worker in the United States is $19.73, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $15.14 and $22.36 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Can Americans get FIFO jobs?

Fifo Utility Worker jobs are typically available to qualified candidates regardless of nationality, but employers may require legal work authorization and relevant certifications. Applicants should meet the job's physical and safety requirements and may need to pass background checks. Visa sponsorship is sometimes necessary for non-citizens seeking employment in certain regions or companies.

What are some common challenges faced by FIFO Utility Workers, and how can they be managed effectively?

FIFO Utility Workers often face challenges such as adapting to long shifts, managing time away from home, and handling physically demanding tasks in remote locations. Effective time management, maintaining open communication with supervisors, and participating in onsite support programs can help mitigate these difficulties. Building strong relationships with team members and utilizing available resources for wellbeing can also enhance the overall FIFO experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a FIFO Utility Worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a FIFO Utility Worker, you generally need physical fitness, basic housekeeping or hospitality experience, and relevant safety certifications such as a White Card. Familiarity with cleaning equipment, chemical handling procedures, and site-specific systems like FIFO rostering software is typical. Strong work ethic, reliability, and effective communication skills help individuals excel in this role, especially when working in remote and team-based environments. These skills ensure efficient site operations, compliance with safety standards, and a positive living environment for all personnel.

How to become a FIFO utility worker?

To become a FIFO utility worker, candidates typically need a high school diploma or equivalent, relevant safety certifications such as H2S or confined space training, and physical fitness for demanding outdoor work. Prior experience in utility maintenance or construction can be beneficial, and workers often operate tools and equipment in remote locations with rotating schedules.

Both roles often require safety training and are essential in industrial environments, but Maintenance Technicians usually have more technical skills and training.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

Fifo Utility Workers typically do not earn $4,000 a week without specialized skills or experience. High-paying jobs that can reach this level often include skilled trades such as commercial diving, offshore oil rig work, or certain construction roles, which may require certifications or physical endurance but not necessarily a college degree. These positions usually involve hazardous environments and demanding schedules.

What are FIFO Utility Workers?

FIFO Utility Workers are employees who work on a 'Fly-In Fly-Out' (FIFO) basis, typically in remote locations such as mining or construction sites. Their primary duties involve general maintenance, cleaning, and support tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the site. Utility workers may be responsible for housekeeping, laundry, waste management, and assisting other staff as needed. They usually work for a set roster, living on-site during their shifts and flying home during off periods. This arrangement allows companies to staff remote projects while offering workers extended time off between work cycles.

How much money does a FIFO worker make?

A FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out) utility worker typically earns between $25 and $40 per hour, depending on experience, location, and the specific industry. Overtime, shift differentials, and allowances can increase total compensation, and workers often receive benefits such as accommodation and travel allowances due to the remote work environment.
