Purpose of Position:


Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. Del Monte Foods has a powerful portfolio of brands, including the iconic Del Monte®, Contadina® and S&W®.

Del Monte Foods (DMC Foods Inc.), the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, is seeking a Seasonal Field Assistant in Plover, WI. The Seasonal Field Assistant supports field operations in Central Sands production area by assisting with crop production activities, crop monitoring, pesticide application planning, harvest coordination, and raw product quality efforts. This role works closely with field leadership, growers, and harvest personnel to support the green and wax bean processing season and help ensure quality raw product enters the plant.


Accountabilities:


The Seasonal Field Assistant position typically runs from late April through October (possibly later) and provides hands-on support for planting, scouting, harvest, sustainability initiatives, and field operations.

  • Assist with field operations related to vegetable crop production, including snap beans, sweet corn, potatoes, carrots, peas, and other crops as assigned.
  • Support planting schedules, crop planning, and coordination of field activities.
  • Assist with crop scouting, monitoring crop conditions, and identifying issues that may impact product quality or yield.
  • Collect, organize, and communicate field data related to crop growth, weather conditions, pest pressure, disease activity, and harvest readiness.
  • Assist with harvest coordination by providing timely and accurate field information to support harvesting schedules and equipment utilization.
  • Support field leadership with crop contracts, grower communications, and raw product planning.
  • Assist with pesticide application planning, recordkeeping, and compliance with company, state, and federal requirements.
  • Support Integrated Pest Management (IPM), sustainability, and crop protection initiatives.
  • Participate in forecasting and crop projections to support production planning and raw product supply needs.
  • Assist with field research, mapping, data entry, and reporting activities.
  • Operate forklifts, vehicles, or field equipment as needed and when properly trained.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to field activities.
  • Follow all company policies regarding safety, food safety, environmental compliance, and employee conduct.
  • Support additional field department projects and duties as assigned throughout the season.
  • Work overtime, weekends, and varying schedules as needed based on crop conditions, planting schedules, and harvest demands.

  • Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and other equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, overtime, weekends, and holidays during peak seasonal periods.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Previous experience in farming, agriculture, crop production, or field operations.
  • Knowledge of vegetable crop production, pest management, irrigation, fertilizer application, and harvest operations.
  • Experience with pesticide application records, IPM programs, crop scouting, or sustainability initiatives.
  • Previous experience operating forklifts, field vehicles, or agricultural equipment.
  • Knowledge of plant nutrition, crop fertility, disease symptoms, weed control, and insect management.
  • Pesticide certification preferred or ability to obtain certification.
  • Associate’s degree or coursework in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Science, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, military experience, farming experience, agricultural work, crop production experience, or related field operations experience may be considered in place of formal education requirements.
  • Must be able to effectively read, write, speak, and understand English in order to perform the essential functions of the position.
