Senior Legal Counsel

The Role

The FMR LLC Legal Department is looking for an experienced, innovative, and motivated attorney to join our Brokerage and Wealth Management Legal Team as Senior Legal Counsel, Digital Brokerage. This unique role focuses on cutting edge digital financial services offerings from Fidelity's retail broker-dealers and in-house financial technology innovation group, the Fidelity Center for Applied Technology.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant law firm or in-house counsel experience with a financial services company that includes broker-dealer matters, or experience with an industry regulator

  • License in good standing with at least one state bar

  • Substantial experience advising FINRA member broker-dealers

  • Experience in the areas of account opening, trading platforms, application of artificial intelligence technology, augmented reality, and advanced analytics and planning experiences is appreciated

  • Ability to work independently under pressure in a dynamic environment that will require you to manage multiple, competing tasks simultaneously

  • Strategic and critical thinking skills, excellent judgment, and decision-making skills

  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills, in particular the ability to reduce sophisticated legal issues to straightforward, practical analysis, and advice

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and credibility, internally and externally

  • Ability to manage outside counsel to provide excellent legal services in a cost-effective manner

The Team

You will be part of a team providing legal support and strategic advice across Fidelity's brokerage, wealth management, and cryptocurrency businesses. You will directly support introducing broker-dealer businesses with both ongoing operations and development of new product and services, acting as subject-matter expert on legal and regulatory issues relating to distribution of digital investment advice and other interactive digital experiences.

The base salary range for this position is $140,000-285,000 USD per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
