Position Summary

The Fiber Splicer is responsible for performing fiber optic splicing, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting team objectives and project timelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Splice and terminate fiber optic cables in accordance with industry standards and company specifications
  • Perform fiber optic testing using equipment such as fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters
  • Troubleshoot fiber network issues and implement effective corrective actions
  • Complete and maintain accurate splice documentation, as-built drawings, and related records
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies
  • Maintain, inspect, and care for all assigned tools and equipment
  • Support team members and project leadership as needed
  • Participate in on-call dispatch rotations for maintenance and repair work, as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in fiber optic splicing and network maintenance
  • Experience using fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters
  • Fiber splicing certification required
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards and regulations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work overtime and travel as business needs require

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driverโ€™s License required
  • DOT Medical Card required
  • CDL Class A or Class B preferred
  • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications preferred

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, crouch, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person and by telephone
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Work may occur on rugged terrain and active construction job sites
