Fiber Optic Technician

Location: Milton, FL
Job Type: Full-Time, On-Site

About the Role

We are seeking a Fiber Optic Technician to support Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) installations and service activities in the Milton, FL area. This role is responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining fiber optic networks for residential and commercial customers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fiber installations, cable routing, terminations, testing equipment, and customer-facing field service work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, route, terminate, and maintain fiber optic cabling for FTTH projects.
  • Perform fiber optic splicing, connectorization, and cable preparation.
  • Install and configure network equipment and customer premise equipment (CPE).
  • Conduct testing using OTDRs, power meters, and other fiber testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot fiber network connectivity and signal issues.
  • Read and interpret work orders, network diagrams, and installation documentation.
  • Ensure all installations meet company quality standards and safety requirements.
  • Complete service reports, testing documentation, and installation records accurately.
  • Interact professionally with residential and commercial customers during installations and repairs.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and project teams to complete assignments efficiently.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience as a Fiber Optic Technician, Fiber Installer, FTTH Technician, Telecommunications Technician, or similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with fiber optic installation, termination, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic testing tools, including OTDR and optical power meters.
  • Experience routing, securing, and managing fiber and copper cabling.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues in the field.
  • Familiarity with FTTH deployment environments.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Reliable transportation (Truck, Van, or SUV) to travel to job sites throughout the service area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fiber splicing experience.
  • Telecommunications or broadband installation experience.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Fiber optic certifications (FOA, CFOT, or equivalent).
  • Experience working with residential internet, voice, and data installations.
  • Basic networking knowledge including routers, switches, and IP connectivity.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and performing field installations.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment safely.
