Job description

We are looking for skilled Fiber Splicing Technicians to join our team! We have several projects ongoing and are hiring now!
WE ARE ONLY HIRING EXPERIENCED FIBER SPLICERS. PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU ARE AN EXPERIENCED FIBER SPLICER.

Experienced Fiber Optic Splicer - MUST be familiar with ALL aspects of fiber optic cable, The ideal candidates will be responsible for the prepping, splicing and testing of new and existing cables as well as troubleshooting and repairing any out of specification splices. Must be experienced to splice Ribbon and Loose Tube Fiber, use multiple types of splicing and test equipment. Must have experience working Splicing in Data Center environment.
Must be able and available to workdays, nights, weekends, emergency call outs, and travel as needed.
The position is fast paced, demanding and requires attention to detail.
All candidates must be able to do the following.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to work.
  • Willingness to travel and work additional hours as needed to meet customer demands.
  • Regional travel required. Paid lodging for travel and meal per diem.
  • Must be hard working and dependable
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to learn new things
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • No Felonies and must have clean driving record
  • Must be drug free and ability to pass a substance test and background check
 Pay depends on level of experience and competency.

Duties

  • Perform cable preparation within fiber splice cases, cabinets and communication shelters.
  • Ability to perform Single and Mass Fusion fiber optic cable splicing, terminations and fiber optic testing.
  • Conduct fiber splicing and testing using power meters, fusion splicers, OTDR equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues within the fiber optic network.
  • Obtain and maintain company required tool supply.
  • Utilize hand tools for cable management and installation.
  • Collaborate with field service teams to ensure efficient operations.
  • Tag and label fibers as needed.
Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Fiber Splicing Technician (at least 2 years of experience splicing)
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment processes, including criminal background check, driving record check, and substance screening
  • Proficiency in cable prep and splice closure techniques, fiber splicing, testing & troubleshooting
  • Ability to use hand tools effectively and safely
  • General Knowledge of Microsoft OS
  • Use critical thinking to work through problems in a logical manner
  • Ability to properly lift 80 pounds
  • Maintain a professional and presentable appearance
  • Learn and follow PPE protocols
  • Knowledge and ability to work with power/hand tools
  • Time management and organizational skills. Prompt attendance to work and scheduled job sites.
  • Capable of being part of a team and working closely with other team members
  • Safe handling of all products and preforming all assigned tasks
  • Ability to effectively communicate with organization
  • Understand the basics of network routing protocols
