As a pivotal member of Kansas Fiber Network, the Sales Engineer collaborates with both internal peers and external clients to seamlessly integrate technical elements into our sales initiatives.

Working closely with KFN's sales force, operations, engineering, and administration teams, the Sales Engineer contributes to identifying promising sales prospects, adeptly resolves any technical hurdles encountered throughout the sales process and deployment phase, assists clients in articulating their specific needs and requirements, crafts innovative solutions, and delivers compelling technology presentations tailored for both technical experts and high-level decision-makers. Additionally, the role encompasses the vital tasks of access planning and member account management, ensuring seamless connectivity and outstanding service for our valued clientele.

What will I do?

Support Sales Efforts

  • Assist the sales team with customer presentations and customized solutions.
  • Provide pre-sales support including proposals, technical responses, and site surveys.
  • Help achieve sales targets and contribute to team success.

Deliver Technical Expertise

  • Design complex data network solutions (Layer 0-3) and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Support GIS mapping and coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Translate technical concepts for customers and sales staff during meetings.
  • Support internal training and act as a subject matter expert on fiber network products.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends by participating in local technical organizations focusing on telecommunications technology, self-study, and attending seminars and workshops.

Engage with Customers

  • Collaborate with clients to assess needs and design network solutions.
  • Build strong, consultative relationships throughout the sales process.
  • Travel to customer sites and industry events as needed.
Position requirements:
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a telecommunications carrier environment is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, preferred; Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be given adequate consideration.
  • MEF, CECP, CCNA, Comp TIA, ITIL, MCSE certification preferred.
