Job description

Telecom Circuit Activation/Testing Engineer
Resources will be required to work on client's site in Melbourne, FL. Non-local candidates will be compensated accordingly for long-term assignment in Melbourne.
Description:
In this role, you will support supervision of equipment and service order installation and activation. The candidate will collaborate with internal and external teams and work independently implementing scheduled network maintenance events. Other tasks include managing special projects supporting program requirements.
Essential Functions:
  • Execute and document formal acceptance testing of products and services per program requirements
  • Knowledge of Telecommunications equipment installation, configuration and testing standards including TDM, PDH, SDH, SONET, and IP network architecture
  • Possess an intermediate (CCNA certification, or equivalent experience) level of experience troubleshooting IP network configurations.
  • Domain knowledge of data protocols including TCP/IP, DMVPN, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, EIGRP, HSRP, IS-IS, LDP, PIM, MSDP, and Ethernet.
  • Strong customer interface skills supporting coordination of both Telco providers and Harris field technician site access as required
  • Test, troubleshoot, and validate communication circuits per IEEE, ITU, TIA, ISO specifications
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering team members to resolve implementation and acceptance issues as needed
  • Responsible to execute a coordinated Maintenance Request (MR) activity to support, Engineering changes per customer and program requirements.
  • Responsible for executing services disconnects throughout the establish Network / CPE per customer and program request via establish program disconnect process.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Previous Network experience
  • Prefer 3 or more years' experience working with SONET equipment and Optical Circuits. Specifically, with Cisco ONS-15310, ONS-15454 and Fujitsu Flashwave 4500/9500 platforms
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Have a thorough understanding of NAS Operations ticket management and scheduled maintenance processes and procedures
  • Possess a strong technical understanding of Gigabit Ethernet/Fast Ethernet, DS1/T1, DS3, VT1.5, VTV, STS1, STSV and OC3-OC192 circuit types as well as familiarity with existing processes and procedures associated in provisioning and acceptance testing of these circuit types
  • Have a thorough understanding of trouble tickets, ticket management, and Change Management processes and procedures
  • Experience with Cisco Prime Optical (CPO) and Cisco Transport Controller (CTC) Fujitsu NetSmart
  • Experience with MetaSolv and DICE preferred
  • MEF-CECP certification preferred
