Job description

Job Purpose
SXSW is seeking a Marketing Coordinator to support the Marketing department, with a primary focus on building, executing, and analyzing email campaigns that drive engagement. This role will also provide cross-channel marketing support across additional campaigns and initiatives as needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Marketing Coordinator plays a key role in supporting integrated marketing communications and expanding awareness and engagement for the SXSW amp; SXSW EDU Conferences amp; Festivals.
Duties amp; Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate the development, execution, and optimization of email marketing campaigns
  • Support the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels
  • Maintain marketing calendars, project management tools, asset trackers, and shared documentation
  • Assist with email production, including asset coordination, graphics, testing, and photo management
  • Track campaign performance and help prepare reports, recaps, executive summaries, and marketing insights
  • Analyze campaign data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for optimization
  • Support marketing events, community activations, partnerships, and meetups
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure the timely delivery of marketing assets and campaigns
  • Provide general support for ongoing marketing initiatives and departmental needs
On-site Responsibilities
The Marketing Coordinator supports the on-site execution of conference and festival marketing for SXSW amp; SXSW EDU and generally supports the overall production of both events through various marketing operations.
Qualifications amp; Skills
Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in marketing or a related role
  • Experience with HubSpot or a comparable email marketing/CRM platform
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS, particularly for email template creation and editing
  • Familiarity with collaboration and project management tools such as Slack, Airtable, and Google Workspace
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other basic design/photo editing tools
  • Excellent written, verbal, and copy editing skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive, self-motivated team player with strong prioritization and follow-through skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
  • Knowledge and passion for innovation, tech, film, TV, music, and education industries are a plus

Work Location amp; Schedule
The position is full-time and located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are from 10 am—6 pm Monday through Friday. You must be available to work additional hours from January through March, including evenings and weekends. You must also be available for the March event, which will have extended working hours onsite.
