Fertility Genetic Testing Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Regions is seeking a Lead, Genetic Counselor individual with strong communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within our Pathology Lab. 

As a member of the genetic counseling services team, you will support the mission, vision, and values of the HealthPartners system of care and comply with relevant policies and procedures of the organization. In this role you will support the genetic counseling services team by providing information, guidance, and technical support related to genetics/genetic testing for your assigned area of specialty. This role provides expertise related to genetics/ genetic testing to organizational leaders and staff, clinicians and care teams, patients, and insurance plan colleagues. 

The Lead Genetic Counselor (GC) will work as member of the laboratory and genetic counseling teams. Primary duties include: 

• Participate in overall program development, management, and growth.
• Participate and lead genetic testing/counseling stewardship projects.  
• Serve as liasion between leadership and the genetic counseling team. 
• Organize and lead team meetings and/or team huddles. 
• Assist the manager in leading day-to-day operations of the genetic counseling team: assess. systems issues,  personnel support, compliance with regulatory, quality, and ethical standards, collegiality/support, advocacy, and team member recognition. 
• Maintain a clinical practice serving patients in areas of specialty. 
• Serve as a clinical expert and provide training/mentoring to genetic counselors and genetic counseling assistants. 
• Lead and/or initiate the implementation of various process improvement goals and projects. 
• Attend relevant multidisciplinary care meetings as a representative of the laboratory and the genetic counseling teams. 
• Work with colleagues and specialty care providers to develop workflows and launch new testing intiatives. 
• Contribute to annual evaluation of team members and work with the manager to address issues related to team member performance. 
• Serve as educator and primary resource liaison for organization leaders, health care providers,  client services staff, health plan colleagues, and external stakeholders. 
• Represent the organization by presenting at local/national conferences, volunteering for local/national professional committees, participating in research projects and/or publication opportunities, serving as a reviewer for scientific publications, networking, and interfacing with prospective genetic counseling students 
• Provide genetics education to internal colleagues as well as the general public. 
• Assist in creating and updating educational materials for patients or providers.

FTE: 1.0, Day Shifts

 Required Qualifications: 

• Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

• Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited graduate program 

• Three (3) years of experience as a genetic counselor in the applicable medical specialty 

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: 

• Board-certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) 

• Licensed by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice (MBMP) as a Genetic Counselor, and licensed, or license obtained withing 6 months of employment, by the Wisconsin Genetic Counselors Affiliated Credentialing Board.

Preferred Qualifications:

 Experience: 

5 years of experience as a Genetic Counselor in the applicable medical specialty.
