Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide legal counsel and advice to the corporation and its subsidiaries to ensure their effective operation in accordance with federal, state and/or international law.

"This is a hybrid position located inPlano, TX. Candidates must live within 50 miles of the campus location. Employees will be required to work at the FedEx campus location several times per week."


GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(This is a representative list of the general duties the position may be asked to perform, and is not intended to be all-inclusive)

  • Provides legal counsel on an assigned basis to members of management and various departments concerning areas of expertise
  • May lead and manage a team by training, developing and coaching team members on a consistent basis
  • Oversees and evaluates the performance and progress of outside counsel representing or advising the company in department-specific matters
  • Evaluates, determines and coordinates with management, regarding the appropriate action/position/response to be taken by the company
  • Acts on behalf of the company and participates in the negotiation and drafting of legal documents (which may include legal court documents)
  • Reviews, analyzes and makes recommendations, concerning compliance with federal and state laws and regulations affecting the company's present and future business plans
  • Recommends necessary actions to affect policy compliance and adopt the best business structure for legal compliance
  • Conducts litigation or administrative proceedings affecting the company's interests in his/her field of expertise.
  • All other duties as needed or required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Juris Doctorate degree and licensed to practice law in the State of Texas
  • 6+ years of experience and demonstrated competency in relevant area of law specialization
  • Superior academic record
  • Ability to determine appropriateness of settlement or litigation
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Strong negotiation, human relations and communications skills
  • Proficient in computer PC skills including, but not limited to MS Office including: Outlook, Word, Excel and the internet

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to travel as required in order to meet with customers, vendors, other team members, and/or other business necessities
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to read and interpret documents and instructions from customers, vendors, and other team members
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other team members
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to function in a fast-paced environment, under substantial pressure
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to work within the appropriate level of independence
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to report regularly to work and maintain established business hours in order to support the FedEx Office business; regular attendance and/or reporting could include regular attendance at a physical location and/or maintaining established business hours depending on the scope and nature of the position
