Job description

Logistics And Warehouse Position

This position reports to the Logistics Manager and Warehouse Manager and is responsible for receiving, storage, packaging, crating and preparation for shipment of manufactured products, and actively participates in the daily receiving, shipping, order processing, and inventory control processes.

Essential Job Functions
  • Packs, palletizes, and shrink-wraps products in preparation for shipment; builds boxes, crates, and pallets to required specifications.
  • Load and unload inventory from loading docks, delivery trucks, storage areas, and production areas.
  • Ensure all incoming deliveries match the company purchase order and are according to company specifications, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assures items are stored in designated storage areas and that proper storage procedures are followed. Ensures product storage is compliant with Company, food safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Selects product for customer orders based upon assigned pick sheets.
  • Reviews shipping documentation to ensure all parts and any other loose parts are packaged correctly to ensure safe and on time delivery.
  • Creating/processing the necessary shipping documentation and/or making the necessary computerized data entries. Items would include packing lists, bills of lading, commercial invoices, customs invoices, and the processing of small package labels and shipments (UPS or FedEx). Able to perform these functions autonomously as a back-up to the Logistics Manager.
  • Performs cycle counts and assists with physical inventory counts.
  • Operates material handling equipment and assists in their preventive maintenance program. Completes necessary documentation per OSHA guidelines and company policy.
  • Ability to inspect, identify, and initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities and deviations from Company specifications. Performs inspections of inbound and outbound goods.
  • Operates handheld devices such as digital camera and tablets to collect data for shipping and receiving.
  • Participates and executes sanitation and cleaning of assigned receiving, storage, staging, and shipping areas.

  • Emphasizes high quality standards: repeat order records indicate a high degree of customer satisfaction; blending errors (waste) are minimized (and eventually eliminated); strives for constant improvement in the quality of Company products and speed of operations.
  • Contributes to operational efficiency; ensures that company operational goals are met.
  • Follows all applicable safety policies; fosters a safe work environment for all employees and takes positive corrective action to promote safety when observed behaviors are non-compliant with company policy.
  • Actively participates in personnel training and development plans. Completes company training according to schedule and maintains a focus of continuous improvement of work skills.
  • Supports the operating philosophy of the Company including policies and procedures; develops a strong work ethic and caring attitude; is punctual, dependable, cooperative and responsible; assists in self-development.
  • High food-safety and food-quality standards are emphasized and maintained. Follows plant GMPs and ensures compliance of job duties with SQF standards.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma (or G.E. equivalency) is mandatory, two-year technical degree is preferred; intermediate level PC experience required (Keyboard skills, MS Office Suite). Postsecondary courses or equivalent experience in logistics, receiving, warehousing, inventory control, domestic and international shipping is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of shipping, receiving, and material handling experience is required, including familiarity with truckload, LTL, export containers, and small package shipment services.
  • The use of hand tools to operate box making, packaging, and crating machinery, electrical and manual pallet jacks, and forklifts, is essential. Forklift operator's training course and certification is mandatory.
  • Preferred candidates should have good verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently, be detail-oriented, and reliable.
  • Must be able to lift 50lb.
