Job description

Reports To: Shipping Manager

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm – overtime during busy seasons may be required and/or voluntary

Location: Northport, AL


Job Overview

The shipping clerk is responsible for monitoring, processing, and recording JNJ’s outgoing deliveries.


Job Responsibilities – including but not limited to:

  • Keep files of goods shipped by preparing regular shipping reports for managers 
  • Handle issues arising in shipping
  • Ensure adherence to environmental management and systems
  • Printing shipping labels and packing lists
  • Ensure shipments are properly identified and labeled
  • Quality check products while packing
  • Verify orders are accurately filled
  • Ensure correct packing techniques for outgoing merchandise
  • Occasional local driving – our retail store, post office, etc.
  • Trouble shoots shipping issues and customer complaints that arise and work to solve them 
  • Place merchandise in a warehouse or storage facility by packaging, lifting items as necessary, and operating pallet jacks for large goods
  • Liaise with Operations and Logistics to ensure shipments are completed as scheduled
  • Orders ready to ship will need to be weighed and labeled properly for shipment out via UPS, or organized properly for pickup and distribution by our in-house local delivery team.

Requirements:

  • At least one year of Shipping experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Able to work full-time (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm)
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours
  • Organization and efficiency
  • Must be at least 21 years old
