Job Title: Paralegal:

Job Summary:

The Paralegal will work closely with the Southern Regional Council of Carpenters Contracts team and external stakeholders to prepare, review, and approve legal and business documents, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The position requires strong legal drafting skills, document management expertise, and a deep knowledge of construction industry or previous experience as a paralegal working in a labor/employment practice.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Legal Document Preparation & Review: Draft, review, and approve contracts, memoranda of understanding (MOUs), correspondence, legislation, litigation filings, and other legal/business documents.
  • Document Template Creation: Generate new templates and convert existing PDFs into editable MS Word formats, correcting OCR errors, indexes, tables, and formatting.
  • Research & Investigation: Conduct legal research, investigate facts, and support negotiations for contracts and legal disputes.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure adherence to applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Recordkeeping: Record and store contract information accurately.
  • Editing & Correspondence: Review documents for grammar, style, tone, and clarity; draft and edit correspondence.
  • Project Management: Manage timelines and deliverables for legal and administrative tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in paralegal work.
  • Education: Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal training.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and other document software.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the construction industry and organized laborโ€™s mission.
