Job description

FEP Benefits Consultant

Location: This role enables associates to workvirtually full-time, except for required in-person training sessions, providing maximum flexibility and autonomy. This approach promotes productivity, supports work-life integration, and ensures essential face-to-face onboarding and skill development.Alternate locations may be considered if candidatesresidewithin a commuting distance from an office.

The Federal Employee Program (FEP) provides health benefits to federal employees, retirees, and their families. Through its longstanding partnership with the federal government, FEP offers nationwide coverage and access to a broad network of providers, with a focus on delivering quality, affordable care.

The FEP Benefits Consultant is responsible for telephonically facilitating federal employee health benefits sales and retention and new member outreach to welcome them to the program and ensure they are enrolled in the product that best meets their needs. Outreach to potential members to develop new opportunities.

How you will make an impact:

  • Contacts new members introducing them to the Value of Blue and welcoming them to the program to promote retention.
  • Influence federal employees to enroll in our products during Open Season.
  • Prospect federal employees and produce revenue through new sales.
  • Provides information to current and potential enrollees to highlight and explain benefit enhancements and/or changes.
  • Responds to inquiries from members and HR staff within the various federal agencies.
  • Researches and coordinates responses to inquiries.
  • Works with FEP Customer Service and Claims to resolve member issues.
  • Remains informed of the various FEHB competitor products and participate and attend various training programs to enhance selling and servicing abilities.
  • Employs consultative sales skills to influence the decision making process.
  • Acts as back up in the field when necessary to fill gaps.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires an AA/AS/BA/BS in Sales/Marketing or experience in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of sales/service experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background. Health and Life license required or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Candidates who reside in STL are strongly preferred.

For candidates working in person or virtually in the below locations, the hourly rate* range for this specific position is $19.26 to $31.93.
