Position: Team Leader
Location: Indianapolis, IN (on-site)
We are seeking an experienced, collaborative, and solutions-oriented Team Leader - Contracts to oversee daily operations and provide leadership within the Contracts department at American Structurepoint. This role is responsible for supervising contract specialists, ensuring timely and accurate contract review, advising project teams on contract interpretation, and supporting firmwide compliance and risk mitigation efforts.
The Team Leader serves as a primary resource for internal staff on contractual matters, partnering closely with project managers, executives, legal counsel, marketing, HR, and accounting. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of professional services contracts-particularly in the architecture, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry-along with demonstrated leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex contractual issues with professionalism and sound judgment.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Contracts team, providing guidance, support, and oversight to contract specialists.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret contract scopes, terms, and conditions to identify risks, obligations, and opportunities for negotiated improvements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for internal stakeholders regarding contractual language, risk considerations, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with executives and project managers to develop risk-mitigation strategies and ensure contract terms align with firm standards and objectives.
  • Support outside counsel and executive team through professional liability claims and project disputes.
  • Respond to Public Records Requests to preserve confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Support executives and internal administrative teams with firm registration compliance.
  • Support drafting and review of non-disclosure agreements, teaming agreements, subconsultant agreements, and other contractual documents.
  • Ensure appropriate flow-down requirements from prime contracts to subconsultants.
  • Oversee contract compliance processes, coordinating with HR, Accounting, Project Management, and other groups as needed.
  • Maintain contract templates, clause libraries, records, and databases to support consistency and operational efficiency.
  • Coach and mentor team members to support their professional development and ensure high-quality performance.
  • Participate in contract-related training, policy refinement, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide timely and accurate communication regarding contract status, concerns, and required amendments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, business administration, legal studies, or a related field; Juris Doctor preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in contract administration, contract management, or related legal experience, preferably within the A/E/C industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret, negotiate, and apply contractual terms and conditions.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising or mentoring contract professionals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience with professional services contracts involving state, municipal, and federal agencies is preferred.
  • Certification in contract management (e.g., NCMA, IACCM) is preferred.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint is preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance and risk management principles related to consulting contracts is preferred.
