Business Development Manager - Federal Contracts
General Summary
The Business Development Manager is responsible for positioning Futron as a competitive prime contractor and teaming partner within the U.S. Federal Government space. This role focuses on identifying, qualifying, and pursuing contract opportunities-particularly within DoD and civilian agencies-and developing strategic partnerships to grow revenue across Futron's contract vehicles.
Minimum Required Experience
  • 10+ years of successful business development experience within the Federal Government sector.
    Applicants without direct federal contracting experience will not be considered.
  • Proven success identifying, qualifying, and capturing Federal contracts, task orders, and recompetes.
  • Demonstrated experience working with DoD or Federal Civilian agencies, government acquisition processes, and multi-year contract strategies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.

Highly Preferred Experience
  • Established network of Federal contracting decision-makers, primes, and teaming partners.
  • Experience managing or supporting IDIQs, GWACs, BPAs, and recompete strategies.
  • Experience supporting proposal development for federal RFPs/RFQs, including technical, pricing, and teaming strategies.
  • Understanding of security requirements and facility clearance processes.

Principles, Duties, & Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Business Development Manager is to create strategic Federal growth opportunities by positioning Futron contracts and establishing teaming relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Identify and qualify federal business opportunities through market research, agency meetings, and industry engagement.
  • Develop capture strategies and pursue opportunities that align with Futron's core capabilities.
  • Build and sustain relationships with Federal program offices, contracting officers, and government decision-makers.
  • Deliver compelling capability briefings and articulate Futron's unique value proposition.
  • Develop teaming strategies with prime and subcontractor partners where mutually beneficial.
  • Support and contribute to proposal development-technical content, pricing strategy, and compliance.
  • Meet or exceed assigned revenue, growth, and profitability objectives.
  • Implement and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) processes.
  • Maintain accurate forecasting and pipeline reporting through CRM systems.
  • Attend government industry days, conferences, and trade events as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Deep understanding of the Federal acquisition lifecycle, FAR/DFARS, and competitive capture strategies.
  • Ability to position and leverage contract vehicles with U.S. government customers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to brief senior government and industry leaders.
  • Financial acumen related to pricing, margin targets, and revenue forecasting.
  • Ability to maintain an organized, forward-looking pipeline report.

Software Proficiency
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • CRM platforms (GovWin, Salesforce, HubSpot, or equivalent)

Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based, with frequent engagement at customer and partner sites.
  • Must perform effectively in a high-visibility, deadline-driven environment.
  • Travel required, including overnight travel as needed.
  • Hybrid work scheduling may be available.

Compensation
  • Salary: $150,000 annually
  • Incentive Program: Performance-based incentive plan available
