Job Description
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical design and development of products/systems from concept through release and production support.
  • Translate customer and internal requirements into engineering specifications, architectures, and detailed designs.
  • Create and review 3D models, drawings, GD&T, and engineering documentation; ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Perform engineering analyses (hand calcs and/or FEA/CFD as needed) to validate design performance and safety margins.
  • Develop and execute test plans, verification/validation strategies, and root-cause investigations; document results and recommendations.
  • Drive design reviews (PDR/CDR), risk assessments (DFMEA), and design-for-manufacturability/assembly/serviceability improvements.
  • Partner with manufacturing to support prototyping, tooling, process development, and transition to production.
  • Own technical problem-solving for field or production issues, including corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) where applicable.
  • Manage technical scope, schedule, and deliverables for assigned projects; communicate status and risks clearly.
  • Mentor and guide Mechanical Engineer I/II team members; contribute to engineering best practices and process improvements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on component selection, technical requirements, and qualification testing.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field).
  • Typically 6-10+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, NX, or similar) and drawing creation/release practices.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and GD&T.
  • Experience taking designs through prototype, test, and release into production.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical work, conduct design reviews, and solve complex engineering problems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with FEA/CFD tools and advanced tolerance analysis.
  • Familiarity with regulated or safety-critical environments (as applicable), quality systems, and documentation rigor.
  • Experience with hydraulics/pneumatics, rotating equipment, shake & vibration, pressure-containing components, or other domain-specific systems (if relevant).
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter, Agile).
  • Project management best practices tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence)

  • Reports to: Engineering Manager (or equivalent).
  • Works closely with: Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Project Management, Field/Service, and Engineering peers.
