What You'll Do
As an Ag Specialty Appraiser you will be part of an in-house team in West Des Moines IA or Lincoln, NE. You will play a vital role in delivering accurate, consistent, and compliant results. You will independently create and review damage estimates for agricultural and specialty risks, applying advanced technical expertise across a wide range of equipment.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Prepare and review detailed damage estimates for agricultural equipment, heavy trucks, semi tractors, trailers, and other specialty equipment using industry-standard estimating tools
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance to Ag Specialists on damage evaluation, repair methods, and salvage values
  • Apply industry knowledge to ensure accurate assessments, consistency in appraisal practices, and confident decision-making on complex or high-value claims
  • Grant appropriate payment authority while ensuring estimates comply with internal guidelines, policy provisions, and industry standards
  • Collaborate with adjusters and leadership across business units to support timely, accurate, and consistent claim resolutions
  • Deliver training and ongoing support to Ag Specialists, field representatives, and management on estimating practices and damage assessment procedures
  • Communicate professionally and clearly with policyholders, agents, management, regulatory agencies, and the public on claim-related matters

What It Takes to Join Our Team
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in agricultural, heavy truck, or specialty equipment estimating, appraisal, or related claims work require
  • Senior Appraiser or comparable specialty claims experience preferred
  • Proven ability to independently write and evaluate estimates for agricultural equipment, heavy trucks, semi tractors, trailers, and specialty equipment
  • Strong understanding of repair methods, damage assessment, and valuation across major equipment components
  • Demonstrated leadership, customer service, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Solid knowledge of technical, business, and industry regulations related to equipment claims
  • Willingness to travel as needed and work in varying weather conditions
