LOCATION - Hartford, CT (Hybrid)
DURATION - 12 months

Job description:

We are seeking a highly technical, experienced Product Owner to lead the functional ownership and business delivery of our enterprise AI-powered workflow automation platform in the healthcare domain.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex engineering capabilities and business outcomes. You will work closely with Project Managers, business users, and engineering teams to define multi-layered automation behavior, manage product backlog priorities, and ensure the successful delivery of scalable, compliant, and resilient workflow solutions.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong platform mindset, moving past  basic chatbot concepts to build robust, agentic AI systems that interact seamlessly with both modern APIs and legacy enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Functional Ownership
· Define and validate complex end-to-end user journeys, business rules, and multi-layered automation workflows.
· Design and productize Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) interfaces for exception handling, run management, and control center UIs.
· Work closely with healthcare operations and business teams to translate manual, legacy workflows into automated, agent-driven use  cases.
· Ensure functional completeness, reliability, and security of delivered automated services.
Agile Product Delivery
· Own, prioritize, and groom the product backlog based on business value, technical dependencies, and platform scaling needs.
· Lead Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives within an Agile framework.
· Translate high-level AI and automation architecture goals into clear, measurable, and testable user stories with robust acceptance criteria.
· Act as the primary functional point of contact to resolve queries for  the engineering, data, and QA teams during development cycles.
Stakeholder Management & Validation
· Coordinate across business, operations, compliance, and technology stakeholders to ensure platform alignment.
· Conduct technical and functional product demonstrations, gathering feedback to drive feature sign-offs.
· Define business acceptance criteria and actively support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
· Validate workflow outputs, state management, logging accuracy, and compliance posture against rigorous healthcare standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications Core Experience
· 7+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager delivering enterprise-grade SaaS, workflow, or automation platforms.
· Proven track record of managing multiple complex technical workstreams simultaneously.
· Strong technical documentation skills (User Stories, PRDs, Functional Flow Diagrams).
Agentic AI & Advanced Automation Architecture
· Agentic AI Product Thinking: Deep understanding of how LLMs, AI agents, tools, memory, and orchestration layers (e.g., LangGraph, Temporal) combine to complete complex, multi-step enterprise tasks.
· Hybrid Automation Familiarity: Experience defining requirements for mixed automation layers, spanning modern browser automation (Playwright), desktop/Citrix environments, and legacy systems (Mainframe/Terminal automation).
· Backend & Platform Depth: Strong familiarity with FastAPI services, Python automation ecosystems, relational databases  (PostgreSQL), and event-driven architectures.
· Platform Mindset: Experience building reusable capabilities, microservices, standards, and structured logging/observability frameworks that support multiple business use cases.
· Developer Experience (DX): Empathy for internal engineering consumers, including defining needs for onboarding, authentication, documentation, and service discoverability (experience with portals like Backstage is a plus).
Preferred Skills
· Domain Expertise: Prior experience in the healthcare domain (e.g., claims processing, clinical workflows, payer/provider operations) and understanding of healthcare compliance.
· Hands-on experience with distributed workflow runtimes and durable execution platforms.
· Experience designing custom reporting dashboards and operational telemetry for automation run management.
· CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) or SAFe PO/PM certification.
Education
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
